Simple Birthday Greeting

Hello Everyone,
I actually have 2 cards to share with you today.  This being the first and they are both based on the 2 same challenges.  The Color Throwdown #489 Combination and CAS(e) this Sketch #268 with Chrissy

I liked the simple and classic colour combination that came up from The Color Throwdown and then this unusual sketch which Chrissy from CASE this Sketch put forward.  It is definitely one out of the ordinary.  And this is my first take on it
CaS Birthday.jpgI decided to keep things really clean and simple which is not my usual style.  But I am really happy with how it all came together.  I have used watercolour paper as the base to use my Distress Inks through a stencil called “New Cheese” by Scrapmatts. First I taped off the area that I wanted to keep white while inking, I followed the sketch layout for the tape placement.

After this was completed and I had cleaned off my stencil I looked through my metal dies for a sentiment that I could use.  I found this Happy Birthday die and I cut it with my Cuttlebug out of both Maroon card stock and some black paper to make a shadow. I glued this onto the space left with no inking and this finished off the card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my first project.  My second one will follow after I have completed some stuff with my family.  And as always before you leave I want to leave you with this thought:

This is a good one to remember. Leave what you are doing if you can finish it tomorrow. It’s okay to take time out – just don’t quit.  So long as you progress each and every day.

Have a Happy Restful/Productive Kind of Day,
My Name
