For John

Hello Everyone,
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I had some time with extended family which was good. But I was feeling a little lost not crafting so I got back into my craft space. For awhile I was lost and not knowing what to do as I didn’t really feel like making more Christmas cards even though I know I must. Then I remembered that I needed some Birthday cards for my January bunch. So I made one for Dee’s Son John.

This card came about because of a sketch and this sketch came from Tuesday Morning Sketches #468

Metric measurements for the front of an A6 card

Once I had cut out the Luka with Truck image (discontinued) from LaLa Land Crafts with my oval die I decided that I wanted to make the background a little less plain so I decided that I would try a technique that I had seen its name is Pointillism. It has been around as an art form for many years and I thought that it would add some interest to this card … I think it did.

I didn’t follow the sketch exactly because I realised that I hadn’t left myself any space for the sentiment so I enlarged the tag on the sketch to fit it. I used some Alphabet stickers that have been sitting in the bottom of my sticker box for ages and a embossed birthday sticker as well.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

Oh this is so true because I love revisiting places but sometimes its with different people. And those times the place that I have gone to has looked so different just because of who I was with. Or it can be with the same people and just how I was feeling while there changes how I now think of where I have been.

Christmas Time, Life

Merry Christmas to All

1 Christmas.jpg

Hello Everyone,
I have popped in to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and wonderful time with family and friends. As you gather around the Christmas tree to open presents with family and friends, I would like you to consider the greatest gift that was never put under a tree. God gave the ultimate gift His Son for us – He started out as a babe and grew into a Man – God knew that the birth of Jesus would eventually lead to the Cross at Eastertime. He knew the impact that Jesus would have on this earth even though he was only here for a very short while.

This is something to consider – Jesus was only on this earth just over 30 years but he made such an impact.  Your life can have an impact on this earth and the people that you encounter each day of your life. What do you want to leave behind?

Thanks for reading this post. And as always before you go I want to leave you with this final thought

As we go forward to the end of this year and into the next consider how you life can make a difference – whether big or small. Just a smile given to a stranger can make their otherwise bleak day a cheerier one.

Blessing of the Season to you all,
❤ Tracy B

Joy

Hello everyone,
I am back for a second card project for today. It’s so good to be able to have some time in my craft space. But this happens when you don’t have to do school runs and such 😉 And this is my card
12 19 Joy
I really had fun with this one and I think that I may redo this card a couple more times. The image is a digital stamp Christmas Word Joy from Bugaboo stamps. I use this image quite a lot because you can colour it to suit your papers, very handy that! And to start this card off came the sketch
Stella Says 620
And as I have been doing I have included the measurements to make a front for a A6 card. And also any mats are usually 0.5cm bigger.
The image I printed and coloured with my Copic markers and it is backed with a Christmas digital paper. Then I added this to a piece of shimmer Maroon paper and matted this with green paper. The poinsettia is a die cut that I had left over in my Christmas Stash.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. To let me know that you stopped by please consider leaving a comment. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
This is something that I hope to be able to do more of while I am not running to different things over this Christmas/New Year break. I want to do more reading next year – that is a goal for me.

Oh Holy Night

Hello everyone,
Yes I am still making Christmas cards but now I am starting onto next years batch. As I now have 2 places that I donate cards too now and also my own needs I am definitely going to have to be making them all through the next 12 months. And this is what I have started with
12 19 Oh Holy Night
For me this is definitely a “Clean and Simple” style of card mainly because it doesn’t have a lot of layers. I actually like how this turned out but of course with me it started with finding a sketch and I found this one
TMS 481
And as I do for you I have included the measurements not only for myself to use the next time but also if you would like to make a card using this sketch. These measurements are to make the front for a A6 card.
I love this image but I am not sure where I bought it from. But she has always reminded me of a rag doll that I got for a present one year so I thought it may be suitable for this weeks Card in Envy challenge. And then Tuesday Morning Sketches is having a Anything Goes so I thought that I would use one of their previous sketches.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. To let me know that you came by please consider giving me a comment and if you have a blog I will stop by yours sometime. And before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
mistakes happen thats life
This is one thing that I have been teaching our children. But also how to handle when it doesn’t work out. This is all part of life. I want to teach my children these things not this world!

Good Luck Thank You

Hello everyone.

Todays card is for a friend who will be leaving our Spinning group to pastures new in New Zealand. I was following a card sketch but didn’t follow it to the letter but you will see what I mean once I show you both the card and the sketch.

And now for the sketch that started this cardmaking exercise – Sketch Saturday #543

As you can see the outcome of the card was a little different to the sketch but not a lot that I hope it is still suitable for the challenge.

The difference came about because of the Butterfly Hat digital image by Julie Spiri which I had printed and coloured with my Faber-Castell Polychromos. So I adjusted the smaller rectangle to suit the layout. The stars I turned into squares to fit around the 2 sentiment stamps. I kept the rest of the card simple because I wanted the image to be the main focus.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project today. And as always before you go I would like to leave you with this thought for the day

I have struggled with this over the past couple of years due to a few circumstances. But I can now see a way through some of it and so it is a start of recovery. So all I can say is Don’t let the world determine who you should be!

HAVE A HAPPY CRAFTY KIND OF DAY,

Birthday, card sketch

Hot Air Balloon Birthday

Hello everyone. The card I am sharing with you today is a type of card that I find hard to make. Male themed birthday cards! I don’t know why these type of cards are hard but they are.  I think I pulled it off with the card that I have made and here it is

The making of this card came about because of the team at Shopping Our Stash Weekly. Their challenge this week is

and then I wanted to design from a sketch and I found this one

The first thing I did was scavenge through my craft supplies to see what I could use and I found an embossing folder with this Hot Air Balloon as part of the scene. I thought it would go well with the masculine theme. Along with the embossing folder the set also came with these boot prints which I used as the 3 elements on the sketch.

After embossing the Hot Air image I coloured it in with my Copics.  Then I found some papers that suited this perfectly. It was a 6X6  paper pad called “Up and Away” by Kasiercraft. On the balloon paper I stamped the words relax & enjoy, it’s your day in Kraft coloured ink. Then I also cut some strips of paper from the paper pack and sponged some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink around the edge. I put some foam tape under the boot prints just to give them a little height. I matted each of the main layers with some Maroon layering paper and put it all together.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project today. Please consider giving my blog a like or even leaving a comment. And as always I would like to leave you with this thought for today

Oh this is so true. I had forgotten this for quite a while. After everything that myself and my family had been through in the past little while … I had forgotten that no matter the size of the progress at least it is progress. And I can see that I am further forward than I was even just a couple of months ago.

Birthday, card sketch

Birthday Squared

Hello everyone. You may be asking why I named my post Birthday Squared. Well I am not one for making using squared shaped cards. I usually stick with the regular rectangle shape because it doesn’t produce any waste and you can get two cards from a A4 sheet of card stock. Where as with a square shaped card you can only get one decent sized card from a sheet but you have leftovers.  I mean I won’t waste this of course because it will be used for a sentiment later but you know I’m sure …

… anywho onto the reason you stopped by my blog today to see my creation

I was quite lucky with this card that I was able to jump into my leftovers drawer and find everything that I needed to make this card. The newest product used on this card is actually the Happy Birthday die which I actually cut apart to use on this card.

But this whole square card making started because of the sketch over at Sketch Saturday

Isn’t this a great sketch. I usually stretch these kinds of sketches to suit an A6 sized card but I decided to try and design within the square. Before cutting the birthday die as its so large I backed the paper with some double sided paper to make the sticking to the project easier. As I wanted to try and not take up the whole front with this die; I sacrificed some of the flowers from the die to make it fit as I have.  And the double sided paper really saved me after I decided to cut the original die-cut apart. Piecing it together after its surgery was easier because I didn’t have to put wet glue onto some really small pieces.

I think that this card could actually suit anyone and I may end up making more square cards in the future but that is to be seen. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. To let me know that you have stopped by consider liking my post and even commenting to let me know what you think of it. And as always before you leave I would like to leave you with this final thought

Love Star Trek and like decorating for Christmas but so glad that I don’t have anyone who is particular how they are placed.
