Wishes For You

Hello Everyone,
This time around I am combing 2 challenges together but sometimes the challenges are a lot easier to combine than others.

We have
ANYTHING GOES with Cute Card Thursday
and this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketch

and this is what was created when these were combined together

This card doesn’t full follow the sketch because 2 of the stripes are the same but I really liked the look of these papers combined and went with it. The wreath image is from Cardmaking in Easy Steps Magazine Issue 16. I made this card for a friend of mine who is turning 80 this year and she love flowers so I coloured in this image with my Copic markers. Everything is matted with blue card stock and the central image is popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project. Please consider leaving a comment or hitting the like button. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

If the pile of books beside my bed says anything than yes I do have a long list of to be read books. But this just means that I never run out of something to read. Mind you sometimes even the ones waiting on my bedside have to be patient because I come across something else that must be read first 😉

February Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone,

The Christmas card that I am sharing today is a little on the simpler side but I am actually liking it a lot. I don’t usually go for this simple but being challenged can push you in different directions. So since this is week 2 of the month it is time for a colour challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Our host Alison has given us this combo to play with

A Colour

and with this as my inspiration this is the card that I made

52CCT wk2 Feb Colour

My Cuttlebug got a bit of a work out making this card first for the cutting of the stars and 2nd for using an embossing folder that I got from a card making magazine last year. To give this simple design a little more interest I added some small holographic silver stickers.

I hope that you will consider coming over to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and play along with our latest challenge. Thanks for stopping in to look at my Design Team project. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

rainbow new beginning

I chose this quote because of the floods that have been happening in the northern part of the state I live in. The new beginning hasn’t even been able to start yet because there is still so much uncertainty with the weather. I pray that the clean up can start soon and people will know the way forward from here.

Until Next Time,

Another Design Team!

Hello Everyone,

You may have noticed that I have a 2nd design team badge sitting on my sidebar now. I have been blessed with another design team opportunity with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Team.

When I was asked to join I really couldn’t believe my luck in being chosen. I entered not really thinking that I would be successful in my application but I was. So from today at 10:30pm and every 2 weeks you are going to see my design team work. Why 10:30pm you may ask … well their blog goes live at 6:30am Canada time which when translated is 10:30pm Brisbane, Australia time.

But please consider coming and playing along any week over with the wonderful team at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

I hope that by sharing my creative journey with you that I will encourage you to work towards what you are passionate about.

Ode To Jessi

Hello Everyone,

Today I am playing along with the Shop Our Stashes Challenge blog. And they have asked us to go to Jessi’s blog and be inspired by her creative life. So while I was going through her blog I found that she was inspired by sketches. And if you have been around my blog much you know how much I love using sketches for my card designs. So I found this card of Jessi’s and this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches

I loved this sketch but I also loved the colours that Jessi had used in her background so I ended up creating this card

02 09 SOS

In creating this card I got a little bit brave. You see this background is actually a page from a calm colouring book and I have liked this image for quite awhile but wasn’t brave enough to tackle the colouring of it.

I didn’t even photocopy it before I went ahead and did the “ink smooshing” technique! Once I started with Pickled Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet Distress Inks onto an acrylic block there was no going back except into the bin if I wasn’t happy with the results. But I really liked how it came out and I think that I may have to try this again with some other pages from colouring books.

I used my Cuttlebug to make the black circle frame before stamping onto some Vellum paper the Happy 80 Birthday using some Lavender ink. I doubled up the vellum so that you could see the stamping a little clearer. I wanted the strip of paper to compliment the mandala of the background and found this paper in my bits drawer and matted it with some black paper. Then I added the washi tape as the last element.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

Each of us are capable of leaving such an impression on this world. Even before we leave this world. We move to different places or we no longer see people. What will people remember about you?

Birthday Wishes

Hello Everyone,
I have been away for a little while but now that my space is updated and I can work there again I want to get back into entering challenges. So to test out my new area I went to one of my favourite challenges and went about making a card and this is the outcome.
This card started with me finding this sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches
I loved making this card on my new table! I was using my Cuttlebug and also hand punches and my stamping tool and I didn’t feel cramped for space after making each of the elements. I am really going to love creating in my new space … thanks Hubby!
The papers for the card came from a really old My Minds Eye paper pack which has been sitting in my stash with just some pieces left. This year I am trying to use up the stash that I have before adding majorly to it. The maroon layers are staples in my stash and always topped up. But the flower and swirl elements are all from a drawer where I keep solids that are cut off from other projects but are too small to be used for a main element on a card.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card project. I am happy to be back crafting and blogging again. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
This is so true! I experienced the other side of this a little while my Hubby and I were updating my space. I wasn’t able to be as crafty as I usually am and I did feel a little out of sorts because of it. I am so happy to have my space back.
Until Next Time,

February Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone.
A new month which means a new host over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. The month of February will be hosted by Alison. Since it is the first week of the month we start with a sketch and this is the one from Alison.
Alison chose a square card sketch but unfortunately I ran out of time to make a card of this size due to family issues. So I had to go with a card base I already had which meant making a rectangle instead. And this is what I came up with.
The only change to the dimensions are the outside which come in at 10cm x 14cm. I had these papers already in my stash at almost the correct size so I had a quick put together which was a good thing because of running behind.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. I hope to see you over at the 52 Challenge Blog with your entry. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
This goes out to all those chronic illness warriors – I am in this club – I wish you days that are filled with light and peace. And on the days when everything seems dark remember that you are not alone even if you feel that way.
Until Next Time Happy Crafting,
