52CCT Septemeber Technique Challenge

Hello everyone, it is the 4th week in September so we are looking at either a Stash or Technique Challenge and Myra has chosen for it to be a technique challenge. And the technique that we all have to play along with is …

04 Technique

I must admit that I don’t do a lot of different fold cards. I use to do them quite a bit but I think that because I have been donating a lot of my cards I now do mostly flat. But this is the card that I made for this challenge.

Aren’t these mice adorable! These guys have been hanging out in my stash for quite a while because I just couldn’t find the right design for them. You see this image was part of a set to be used for making 3D cards. I don’t make these cards usually and they came as part of a kit so they have been sitting in my stash and I thought that I would never use them. But I dug through my favourite sketches and found one that first could be used for an easel card and 2nd for these cute critters. And this is the sketch that I used

Once I found the sketch and it had an oval in the design I used the main image from the 3D set and cut the oval out with a die but this cut off the parts of the mice on either side. So to make these guys full again I used one of the layering pieces and cut these out and put them over the oval. Before I cut them out I put some double-sided tape from a large roll on the back so that when I cut them out I could make sure I could fully secure them. The sentiment on the inside was part of the kit as was the paper that I have used.

Thanks for dropping on by and looking at my Design Teamwork for the Technique challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come on over and play along with us. Before you go from my blog I want to leave you with this final thought

when you live with chronic pain, you learn to make room for pain, that doesn't mean it's gone. This is just a heads up – I will be blogging about my other life – (my walk between being well and not being able to do much at all) – on this blog. I have decided not to hide this side of me anymore. It is a part of me and it’s a part of my story.

Until next time, find your happy and do it,

Purrrfect Birthday

Hello everyone, trying to make a card with not many colours makes it harder. But having a wonderful silhouette image to work with makes things much easier.

And this cat silhouette image from Bugaboo was just the ticket. This card I will also be entering into 2 different challenges.

This bingo challenge from Bugaboo which I have used the right column and also a sketch challenge #355 from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project. I really appreciate all of the likes and comments on my posts. Before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought to ponder on.

Never too late…

Until next time, find something that you love doing and do it,

Happy Bird-day

Hello everyone, today I have gone right out of my comfort zone and I have made a one layer card. I definitely don’t do this style I love my layers but I have popped the one layer panel up on some foam for a little dimension.

09 27 Happy Bird

The reason I went down this route is because of the post by Melissa who made the sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketch #522. She said that for this sketch she saw it as a one layer card. So I decided to see if I could make this sketch …

… into a one layer card. I am really happy with how this turned out and I actually had a lot of fun conceiving how to make this happen. I used a bird layering stamp outline and made a mask first. I used a Tim Holtz Stencil called ‘Leafy’ with 2 Distress Ink colours called Crushed Olive and Mowed Lawn. I applied the ink with my new ink blending brushes, I am loving using these on stencils. After the stenciling was finished I then used the layering stamps to finish up the bird. Then I finished the card off by popping the panel up on foam and layering it on some dark blue cardstock and a card base.

I am happy that you decided to stop by and see my card project. Also, thanks for all of the comments and likes on my projects because I appreciate it. Before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought to ponder on.

No place like home

Until next time, find your happy and spend some time doing it,

Baby and Bear

Hello everyone, the card that I have for you was made for the Catch The Bug Challenge. I am super pleased with how the card has turned out.

09 25 Its a Girl

The Catch the Bug Challenge is the September Bingo Challenge, these are fun to participate in because you have so many options.

For my card I went straight across the bottom. Even though this is a retired Bugaboo image I love using her as she is adorable sitting with her teddy friend. The papers that I used are actually from a card crafting magazine that I got quite a while ago but was sitting on my desk. The sentiment sticker has been sitting in my stash for ages but the gold stripes are actually new to my stash from a company called “Love From Lizi“. I love these but postage from the UK is a killer to the land of OZ – I got these when Lizi was offering free postage so I only had to pay for the product.

Thanks for coming on by my blog to have a look at my card project. I appreciate your visit and all of the likes and comments that I recieve on my posts. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought to ponder on.

Hobnail Tulips

Hello everyone, as I mentioned in my last post I made 2 cards with the same image from Power Poppy. Well here is the other card from that pair.

09 25 Vase Tulips 2

As I also mentioned in the last post this card started with a sketch from Sketch Saturday #582. And here it is again for your reference.

I have used the same die that I used on the previous card to make the swirl but I have only adjusted it a little to fit on the card. This time around I have used a Get Well Soon sticker from my stash. The paper that I have used on both cards comes from that large stash of Recollections Black and White Paper Pad it gives a little bit of pattern without overwhelming my watercolour panels which I wanted to be the focal point.

Thanks for stopping into my blog and having a look at my card project. I want to also say thanks for all the comments and likes on my blog I really appreciate it. Before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought to ponder on for this post.

Until we meet again, always remember that you matter,

Tulip Vase

Hello everyone, today I am actually bringing you 2 cards made with the one image from Power Poppy. I haven’t done this to an image for a while but this image just cried out for it to be done.  Here is a photo of the 2 cards together and then I will concentrate on one card at a time with a close up of the image.

09 25 Vase Tulips

But this card actually started with a sketch from Sketch Saturday #582.

You can see how I have used this sketch with the halves of the picture. I flipped the sketch just so that it suited the 2nd side. This image was coloured in with some watercolour paints onto some rough watercolour paper that I put through my printer to get this image. The image is called “Tulips in Hobnail Pitcher Digital Stamp Set” and it is still available. You can also buy it as a clear photopolymer stamp set as well. I love images from Power Poppy they can be used for so many different occasions. This was my first time using watercolour paints since I was in high school.

Here is the Happy Anniversary Card just by itself.

09 25 Vase Tulips 1

I didn’t have a die that came near the sketch so I used the curliest one that I could find. I matted each layer with maroon card stock and added the Happy Anniversary sticker from my stash. The 3 hearts were on the same sticker sheet so I added them to the top right and that finished off this side of the image 🙂

Thanks for coming to my blog today and looking at my card project. I hope that you like what I did with this sketch. I am grateful for all of the comments and likes on my posts. And as always I would like to leave you with this image to ponder on before you go.

Until next time, find something that you love and do it!

Love Always Wins

Hello everyone, I am bringing you an anniversary card this time around. With anniversary cards I am always looking for a different way to present them. This card was inspired by a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketch #521 and here is the card that came from it.

09 22 Love Always Wins

I think that I was able to present a different anniversary card by the use of this sentiment. It is definitely different from the usual. And this is the sketch that I started with.

It is on the simple side of my usual style but I am really happy with how it turned out and I think this could go to anyone. Another thing that I am aiming for in my card making – cards that are suitable for multiple people.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project. I am glad that you decided to drop on by my blog today. Before you depart I would like to leave you with this last thought for you to ponder on.

Until next time, do something that makes you smile,
❤ Tracy
