Mojo Monday no.540

Hello everyone. I was able to get into my craft space yesterday but have only had time now to upload the 2 cards that I made so there will be a 2nd post coming after this one. But each card is for a different challenge.

This one is actually a double challenge we have a sketch challenge #540 from Mojo Monday but also a challenge from Kristie – Christmas in July.

I was happy that Kristie chose to have a Christmas in July challenge because I signed up for “a digi a day in July”. This is with a digi company called Kinda Cute by Patricia and this was one that I received. I coloured in the image with both my Polychromos Pencils and Copic Markers. I didn’t have any spare cardstock to make a slimline card so I chose to make one of my A6 landscape cards. I think that you can still see the sketch in this card.

Thanks for stopping in even though I am cutting it short for the Mojo challenge. Before you leave my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Until my next post,

July Sketch for 52CCT

Hello everyone, a short post this time around due to my shoulder problems. But I was able to make some cards which is a good thing because I was able to make a card for this weeks challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

And since it is the first week of July we have a new host for the month – Fabiola. It also means that we are also playing along with a sketch.

If you have spent anytime around my blog you will know that I don’t make square cards as I never get along with them so I made a traditional sized card instead but inspired by this sketch.

07 W1 Sketch

It is on the simpler side of my cardmaking but I am really happy with how it came together and I am getting to use up more of my Christmas paper stash which is another win.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project for the 52CCT challenge. I hope that you will stop on by the blog and see what the other designers got up too. Before you do that though I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Love spending time with my books. Give me a good book, a cup of tea and some peace to read it! My kind of heaven.

Until my next post,

June Theme Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, here we are the 3rd week of June already. Where is this year going? So much to get done between now and Christmas. So over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge it is theme week and our hostess Becca chose …

03 June theme

I must admit that when I saw this theme I thought hmmm I don’t have much of that in my stash as in Australia we are in the middle of a heatwave usually on Christmas Day. But this is the card I made …

06 Wk3 Theme

The main snowflake image and I used it in making the background paper as well is a digital image from Bugaboo Digital Images and it is called “Snowflake Word Art” and is available here from their store. I printed one of these to be the main image and then little ones on the background. I used some distress inks to colour it all up and stamped some little bitty snowflakes that I found on another stamp set. I added the gold Nuvo drops as just a point of difference.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team project for the Theme Challenge over at the 52CCT blog. I hope that you will drop on over to the blog and see what the other designers got up to with this theme. Before you depart my blog though I would love to leave you with this final thought for this post.

Until my next post,

2020 06

And this is what I did with this sketch.

06 Wk1 Sketch

Had fun making this card as I found 2 pieces of patterned paper that I thought worked well together and I had just enough to make this card πŸ™‚ This was a win win in my book being able to use up my stash makes me very happy.

Thanks for looking at my Design Team project for this months sketch challenge. I hope that you will come by the 52CCT blog and see what the other members have been up to this month. And then consider joining in on the fun with us and our challenges.Β Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

May Stash Technique Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, I am here with my last hostess duty for May as it is time for a Technique or Stash Challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I have had so much fun hosting the challenges during May and I want to thank everyone who joined in over the month.

So any way onto this weeks challenge. As I said it was a choice between Stash and Technique and I chose

04 May technique

Well, technically this is a both Stash and Technique challenge because we are digging into our stash to find those long ago bought embossing folders which I am sure haven’t been used lately to do this technique. Or you could be digging into your embossing powder stash to find just the right colour to now use for this technique. See what I mean about it being really about both πŸ™‚

05 Wk4 Stash Tech

The background I embossed with a folder that I have loved for a long time because it reminded me of the flowers I see in Australia during Christmas. And then I coloured it with my watercolours and highlighted certain areas with darker pen. The sentiment is actually the combination of 2 stamp sets a Birthday set for the Happy and a Christmas set for the Christmas Greetings.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Stash/Technique Card for the challenge happening over at the 52CCT. I hope that you will pop on over to the blog and see what the other design team have gotten up to this week. And maybe consider joining in on the fun with your own project. Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Not as much in my craft room after I have been making different types of cards for the past couple of months.

May Theme Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, we are up to the 3rd week in May and this is the week that we have a theme challenge. This challenge took me a little while to come up with because I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to choose.

03 May theme

So I ended up going with Silhouette because I was looking through what I had in my craft space and I found some long unused stamps in my stash. So I used some of those stamps on my project.

05 Wk3 Theme

I am really pleased with how this turned out. It is definitely more on the simple side of design but sometimes using just a few supplies together makes a beautiful project. The gold dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops are actually to hide a couple of boo-boos. I haven’t gotten my sand eraser yet to be able to fix these so I decided to embellish what I couldn’t fix. I was too far into the project to throw it all away.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team project for the Theme challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I hope that you will come over and look at what the other designers did with my challenge and then consider joining in on the fun. But before you do that I would love to leave you with this last thought for this post.

I know that if I stuff up a craft project I can usually start again … this isn’t always possible in real life.

May Colour Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, it is the 2nd week of my hosting duties for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and this week it is colour time. I must admit that I had to think about this one for a while I wasn’t really sure what I should choose but this is what I came up with.

02 May colour

You can take this any way you want to really. But for me, traditional colours for Christmas are Red, Green and White. You could go with these colours but with the brighter shades instead of the more muted tones that we usually see.

05 Wk2 Colour

You can see that I have used the usual colours but my tones are on the bright side and I have used purple for my matting layers instead of the usual maroon shade of red. I didn’t know if I would like working with these colours for a Christmas card but I am really happy with how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Teamwork. I hope that you will come on over to the 52CCT challenge blog and see what the other members have done with my colour challenge and maybe you will decide to play along with us. Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

May Sketch Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, it is a new month and this month I am actually acting as hostess of the challenges. I hope that you have fun with the 4 challenges that I have come up with and come on over and play along with them.

But anyway onto this weeks challenge and since it is week one it is sketch time. If you have visited my blog before you will know that I love using sketches to make my cards. And this is the sketch that we are all going to be using.

2020 05

Now you can see that this has been put in as a square card but I don’t really do square cards so I have made a rectangle.

05 Wk1 Sketch

The image that I have used is such an adorable one from Bugaboo Digital Stamps and is called “Turtles Christmas“. I have coloured him in with my Copic Markers and kept the rest of the card pretty simple.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team project for the sketch challenge that I am hosting. Please let me know what you thought of my design and also please pop on over to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge blog and see how the other members of the team have used this sketch. Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

April Technique for 52CCT

Hello everyone, here we are at the end of another set of challenges. We are up to a technique challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. This time around the technique is

04 April technique

And if you are wanting some help with this technique here is a video for you to look at. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDlhbw7t8ww

04 Wk4 Technique

And I did another version of this technique – I wanted to show off this “Christmas Cat” digital image from Bugaboo Digital Stamps. So I thought framing him with the herringbone would help for him to stand out. The sentiment I printed when I printed off the cat then I used my distress inks to give it a little colour and added some Love from Lizi Peel Offs to give it a little pop.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team project for the Technique Challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come on over to the blog and see what the other designers have been up to and join in on the fun. Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this final thought for this post.

With everything going on in the world right now … we are pretty well off in this life.

April Theme Challenge for 52CCT

Hello everyone, today is the 3rd week of April and we are up to doing a theme challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. And this time around we have

03 April theme

This is something a little different to use on a card. But I must admit that when I saw this come up as what we had to design with I knew what supplies I was going to pull out.

04 Wk3 Theme

What do you think? I didn’t do a forest as such but used a stamp that used branches to make a part wreath and in the same set was these 3 deer. I coloured a piece of paper with a spot of blue distress ink and a sponge tool; I adhered this piece to the gold layering paper. The sentiment came from a different stamp set then I popped this main panel up on some foam and added some Gold Nuvo Drops just to add a little bit of interest.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team submission for the Theme challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I hope that you will pop on over to the blog and see what the other designers have been up to. Before you depart from my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.
