AHSC no.501

Hello everyone.
I am here today to share with you my design team make for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. And this was an interesting one to get my head around.

I must admit that this card actually took me 2 goes to create. The first one I tried using my dies and I just couldn’t get the layers to sit right. So I turned to my Brother Scan and Cut for some assistance. And I was able to cut the layers a lot more even because I had the control of the sizing.

The papers that I used are from an old NitWit printed paper pad which I got with a magazine many years ago. I have a couple of their digital collections and love them. So when the papers were offered on a magazine I purchased it. I just loved the pastel colours and looking at it I am wondering why I never used it. As I wanted the 5 scallops to be the main focus of the card I left the background as a plain colour.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card for the AHSC #501. I hope that you will create with this sketch and then share it over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

52CCT November 2022 Technique Stash Challenge

Hello Everyone.
Today I am here with my design team make for the latest challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. This time it can be either a Technique we need to follow or finding one of our buried Stash items to use.

I have a lot of stencils in my stash and I don’t use them as often as I should for techniques on cards. So this challenge gave me the reminder of this loved but under used item in my craft space.

This card actually has 2 stencils used and a silhouette stamp set. To make this card I first cut out the white panel to fit onto my card front. From my Distress Ink supply I chose Barn Door, Mowed Lawn and Black Soot then found the blending brushes for these. In my stencil folder I found Echo Park – Shine on Stars and Paper Rose Studio – Peace Love Joy. Unfortunately I don’t know who made the Nativity silhouette stamp set but I think I may have gotten it from a paper crafting magazine a few years back.

First step was to use Barn Door and Mowed Lawn with the Shine on Stars Stencil. Looking at it now I wish that I had gone darker with these colours – next time. Second step was using Black Soot with the Peace Love Joy. I didn’t go very dark with this colour as I didn’t want to totally cover up the stars from the previous step. Third step was stamping and as I has spent so much time making the panel already I put it into my stamp positioner so that I would stuff this step up. I stamped the image with my Paper Rose Studio Premium Black Dye Ink. I added a gold star to the top of the manger but I wish that I had gone larger with this – again – next time.

Thanks for taking the time to stop on by and look at my design team make for the Technique – Stencil Challenge over on the 52CCT blog. I hope that you will come and create along with us.

Until my next post,

52CCT November 2022 Theme Challenge

Hello everyone.
Today is the day for the Theme Challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

I decided that Santa and Rudolf would be need a vacation after the hectic night of the 24th so I sent them to a tropical location. Rudolf is looking like he is ready for a swim and Santa will be joining him after he finishes capturing the moment.

The images are from TitaStudioCreative on Etsy and these are from the Watercolour Tropical Christmas. The sentiment I made on my computer as I don’t have anything suitable. I have been collecting some Christmas images that reflect the Christmases that I experience living in Australia. Not a lot of snow around.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the 52CCT Theme challenge. I hope that you will consider creating along with us and sharing your makes with us.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.499

Hello everyone.
Today I am here to share with you a card that I made for the latest Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge.

I had this patterned paper sitting on my desk and I wanted to try and make some cards with it but I didn’t have any images left from the ephemera pack but I did have these flowers in my digital images collection. I printed these images including the sentiment and used my Brother Scan and Cut to cut them out.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for AHSC. I hope that you will come and create along with us.

Until my next post,

52CCT November 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the 2nd week in November, so we are up to a colour challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. And the colours that we are going to get to create with are …

I looked in my patterned paper stash and couldn’t find anything that would suit this combination. Then I thought why not use my unloved stencils and distress inks. In my stencils, I found this Nordic style stencil and I chose Barn Door and Salty Ocean for the distress inks. Since the challenge said that we could use a little bit of black I pulled out this Christmas sentiment from Paper Rose Studios. Their sentiment sheets are wonderful for making quick cards.

I decided to not put any embellishments with this card as I wanted the stencilling to stand out. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the Colour Challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will create along with us and share your makes over on our challenge blog.

Until my next post,

52CCT November 2022 Sketch

Hello everyone.
It is good to be here with you for another challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. But before I go on any further with the challenge – can you believe that we are already in November! Anyway back onto the challenge. Since it is the first Saturday in November it is time for us to create with a sketch.

As you can see I stuck with the sketch this time around. Except that I used a word cut out from the ephemera pack that I bought with this old Kasiercraft patterned paper pad. The star scallop paper was also in that pack as well. These two items made making this card project so simple.

Isn’t is amazing how we can have these items in our stash and look at them and think how am I ever going to be able to use this? Then something like this sketch comes along and then you see the possibilities. I am glad to be able to use these elements and this paper pad up so that some new items can come into my stash.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the November Sketch for 52CCT. I hope that you will come along and create with us and show us your creations on our blog.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.497

Hello everyone.
I am here today to share with you my design team make for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Sketch no.497 by Michelle is a square design but as you will see I have change it up to be a portrait instead. But first here is the sketch we were given to work with.

I really love this card but the camera is not liking the very pale pink paper that I used for the background and the circle. I bought these papers from my local craft shop which were on clearance because I loved the soft colours even in the images that were on a cut apart sheet but I could never find the right project to include them.

Even though the sketch shows images for Halloween, I don’t celebrate this season so I decided to make a birthday card instead with something sitting in my stash. I had just finished cutting out the images and the present and tea cup I thought would be the perfect pairing for the images on the sketch.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my card design this week using the sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I hope that you will come and join in on the fun of creating with sketches.

Until my next post,

52CCT October 2022 Stash Challenge

Hello everyone.
Today I am here to share with you my design team make for the Stash Challenge over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

These type of challenges are fun to follow as you get to choose your path the creativity. You can go from corner to corner, left to right or top to bottom.

For my creation I went with corner to corner – so Nativity, Patterned Paper and Embossing.

The nativity image is one from NitWits Collection – Nitwitivity. It is such a cute digital collection of Nativity images and background papers. I love their images for times when I don’t feel like colouring in images myself. This collection gave me 2 of my elements the Nativity and the patterned paper. My Brother ScanNCut saved the day with helping me to cut the perfect diamond out of the printed image and also a slightly larger mat from some black layering paper.

For my 3rd element I went searching in my embossing folder basket and found this wonderful Sizzix Christmas Words. It has been in my stash for many years if not a couple of decades. I love it and use it often this time around I used 2 Distress Inks – Salty Ocean and Barn Door – with a brush applicator. I matted this panel on the same layering paper that I used for the image.

To put this all together I added the embossed panel onto the front of a white card base. Then I popped the image panel up on some foam squares just to give it some height and to help it to stick to the embossed panel.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team card. I hope that you will come and join in on the fun of creating with a TicTacToe panel.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.495

Hello everyone.
It is time for another sketch from Michelle over on the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. This time around though we are teaming up with the wonderful creators over at the Double Trouble Paper Crafting Challenge Blog. So you can enter your creation into both of the challenges. Please go to the Double Trouble blog to find out what they have install for everyone.

The sketch that we get to create with this time around is

This is my first card using my new Brother ScanNCut 1200. I had a ScanNCut many years ago but didn’t get along with it and I ended up selling it to someone who wanted one. But due to hand issues in the past couple of months I have had to make the decision to either give up my card making or buy another machine.

So with the ScanNCut, I cut out both the sentiment and the circle design. I am very impressed with how these 2 elements came out. I hope to get into a training course to learn a lot more about my machine. The 3 smaller circles are from a die from Paper Rose Studios. I will continue to use the dies that I have for certain circumstances but I know that the ScanNCut will come into its own by helping to cut things out that I would have done with detail scissors but can no longer do.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my design team make using sketch no.495 from AHSC. I hope that you will come and play along with us and also upload your creation on the Double Trouble Paper Crafting challenge as well.

Until my next post,

52CCT Theme Challenge October 2022

Hello everyone.
Today, I am here to share my design using the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown theme challenge.

These adorable penguins are a digital stamp that is no longer available but I still love using it. They always put a smile on my face each time I come to use them. I coloured in this image with my Copic markers. Since I wanted this image to stand out I went with a very simple card design.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using the Theme Challenge over on the 52CCT blog. I hope that you will come and see what the others designers have done with this challenge. And then come and join in the fun and make a card and share it with us.

Until my next post,
