52CCT June 2022 Theme

Hello everyone. It is the 3rd Saturday in June which means we are up for a Theme Challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. And this week’s theme

For my make, I decided to look through the images that I had on my computer and I found this adorable Puppy in a basket. I printed this image onto thick white cardstock and mounted him onto some Maroon light-weight cardstock. The sentiment is from Paper Rose Studios Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets and to finish off this card I also used their Clear Crystal Mix which gives just a little bit of sparkle to the card.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for the Theme of Vintage Christmas over at the 52CCT challenge. I hope that you will come and create along with us and show us your creations on our blog.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.477

Hello everyone. I am here with a card design using the sketch made by Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This is shown as a square card sketch but I have changed mine to be a portrait A6-sized card.

The background paper is just something that was sitting on my desk that I thought would look good as a background for the heart die that I used. The die is from Paper Rose Studio and it is called Floral Heart Metal Cutting Die. I placed this onto some white cardstock but it was too stark of a contrast so I used some Fired Brick Distress Ink and a Blending Brush just for some subtle colour. The sentiment flag I printed out on my computer as I couldn’t find anything in my stash suitable.

I left the card pretty simple this time because the die is so intricate and I didn’t want to take away from this. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for sketch no.477 from AHSC. I hope that you will come along and create with us and share your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next blog,

52CCT June Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the 2nd Saturday in June, so we have a colour combination to create this week. And that combination is

This was an exciting combination as we don’t have the usual red included. But having different combinations is part of the fun of these challenges.

I went searching through my stash of Christmas papers and I found these 2 which were perfect. To these papers, I added some inking with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and also some Love From Lizi Pin Stripe Stickers as well as some green holographic stickers from my stash. The large sentiment is from Paper Rose Studio Crip Christmas Sentiment Sheets.

Thanks for stopping in and seeing what I created using the colour combination from the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I hope that you will come along and create with us and also share your makes over on our challenge blog.

Until my next post,

Hello everyone. I am here today to share with you my make using a sketch by Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. And if you have ever been to my blog before you will know that I love creating with sketches. I find them a wonderful place to start my card sketches. Here is the sketch that Michelle has designed for us to create with –

This sketch is perfect for using up your scraps leftover from a nearly completed paper pad. This is where these papers came from. There was such a variety of different designs I wasn’t 100% sure that they would all work together on the one card. But I think because they are only little parts of a larger piece it works. The most time-consuming part of this process was choosing which papers to put together.

The flower, leaves and sentiment are all from Paper Rose Studios. I am not really sure if the flower works but this was the first time using a page from a book and this design. I will do things differently next time I use this die and I also know that I can go a lot darker with my Distress Inks and not have it overpower the design.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using the sketch from AHSC. I hope that you will come and create along with us and please share your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

52CCT May 2022 Technique Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the 4th week of my hosting duties over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. With it being the 4th week it means that I am at the end of my hosting duties (except for announcing the winner of this challenge) and I am so grateful for everyone who has come over to the challenge blog and participated in the challenges that I set.

But anywho onto this weeks challenge –

This is a video from YouTube showing this technique. It’s not a Christmas card but the process is very clear.

I used a stamp set of Christmas baubles for my creation. I used my stamping platform to stamp this out as I wanted to make sure that if I needed to restamp any of the images there wouldn’t be any problems especially if I was halfway through the process. And I did need to restamp a couple of the images. This was a really fun technique to use but I can see doing this cutting technique with patterned paper as well.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using my chosen technique of triple time stamping. I hope that you will give this technique a try and come and share your makes over on the 52CCT challenge blog.

Until my next post,
Please, be kind to yourself and others.

52CCT May 2022 Theme Challenge

Hello everyone. I am here today to share with you my creation using the theme that I chose as hostess this month over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. And the theme that I chose is.

As a Christian, I love celebrating the reason for this wonderful season. And it all began with the Nativity. God gave to the world the greatest gift that could have ever been given. So to celebrate this moment in history I made this card.

This image is from the patterned paper pad called Christmas Night from Paper Rose Studios. I cut this image out using my Stitched Border Rectangle Dies (Australian Sized) from Paper Rose as well. The sentiment I made on my computer and printed on cardstock before cutting it out and rounding the corners with my punch. I mounted my panel onto some gold shimmer cardstock and some maroon cardstock as well. Then to finish off the card I added 5 Mustard Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my creation using the Theme – Nativity – over at the 52CCT challenge. I hope that you will consider coming on by and creating along with myself and the design team.

Until My Next Post,

Hello everyone. I am here to share with you my make for the latest sketch that Michelle has designed for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

Michelle has designed a square card but I have stretched it to make a portrait A6 sized card.

I had some new products from Australian company Paper Rose Studios to play around with and I am working towards donating cards in September for Fathers Day. I also decided to do a 1 layer card, which is totally not my usual thing, but the products from Paper Rose and the sketch sent me down that path.

To make the panel indicated on the sketch I used the stencil called Lots of Tools and I have coloured them using blending brushes with 2 Distress Inks – Black Soot and Walnut Stain. #coolDad is a sentiment made up of 2 stamps from the Hey Dad clear stamp set. I added some Copper Nuvo Crystal Drops and mounted this panel onto some lightweight black cardstock.

Sometimes going down paths not used often can be a good thing. I am quite pleased with how this turned out and may wonder down this path again in the future. I hope that you will come and participate in the latest sketch challenge over on the AHSC blog.

Until my next post,
Be Kind to Yourself and Others.

52CCT May 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. This is the 2nd week that I am hostess of the challenges over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. And with it being the 2nd week I am in charge of the colour choices to be used.

I came up with this colour combination by looking at the patterned paper pad that I wanted to use for this challenge. Those 3 colours that I chose were the predominant colours for the pad so I went with them.

My image has the light grey background and yellow of the wattle but it is mainly red and green then I added this brown paper which has a woodgrain pattern through it. I added a strip of green metallic paper between the two patterned papers to disguise the transition between them. The sentiment panel is printed on my computer as I didn’t have anything quite suitable in my stash. I decided to keep this one pretty simple so that it would be suitable for anyone to receive.

Until my next post,
Be kind to each other and yourselves.

52CCT May 2022 Sketch Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the start of May and this is a special month in the calendar for me. Well, it is actually my birthday month but this year I am also the hostess over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. This means I am setting all of the challenges for everyone to create with. And with it being the first week of the month it is my favourite challenge of all – a sketch challenge.

I love using sketches but I must admit that I had a struggle trying to come up with one that I was happy with. In my creating of cards, I don’t do a lot of landscape orientations so I decided that designing one like that would challenge me and maybe others. Of course, I don’t mind if people change the orientation if it happens to suit the main panel better.

For my card I am using a paper pad that has the colours of Christmas that I am more used to seeing. The golden wattles, the green of the gum leaves and the red rust from an old tin shed or barn. I like finding products that depict what I experience instead of something I have only read about.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card using my sketch from the 52CCT challenge. I hope that you will come and create along with us and show us your creations on our challenge blog.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.471

Hello everyone. Today I am here to share with you my make using a sketch from Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

The sketch is set as a slimline design but I don’t make this size; so I changed it to an A6 card. This is something that I love about card sketches; they can be adjusted to the supplies that you have in your craft stash.

The sentiment and image are from 2 different Paper Rose Studio stamp sets that I have just recently purchased. I thought the toolbox image would suit the circle element of the sketch and the smaller sentiment would fit beside it in the same place as the sketch as well. I didn’t have any full sheets left in the paper pad that the two patterned papers came from so I used some Walnut Stain Distress Ink and the Woodgrain Stencil from Tim Holtz on some kraft paper to make one.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using the AHSC #471 sketch. I hope that you will come and create along with us and show us your creations over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,
Be kind to yourself and others.
