February Theme Challenge

Hello Everyone,

It’s the 3rd week of the month and over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge this means it’s Theme Challenge time. And our hostess this month Alison has suggested this theme

I must say that I always find winter theme cards a challenge. Because where I live in Australia we don’t really have a winter … well we do but nothing that needs snow gear unless we travel down to the south of our country. So I had to dig through my stamp stash to see what I could find because I don’t really buy this theme either. But I did find something suitable and this is the card I came up with.

I am quite happy with how this came together. Even though I didn’t use traditional colours at all for this card I thought the pink, blue and purples lent to the winter theme. I used my embossing supplies to give this poor leafless tree a slight covering of snow. Using my white gel pen I added some snow to the background of the “photo” which I had coloured using my Distress Inks.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and having a look at my Design Team Submission. I hope to see you over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. Before you go I want to leave you with this thought

I love the advice from a tree. These things are quite good for humans to remember as well. I sometimes forget to do some of these thing actually.

Until Next Time,

February Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone,

The Christmas card that I am sharing today is a little on the simpler side but I am actually liking it a lot. I don’t usually go for this simple but being challenged can push you in different directions. So since this is week 2 of the month it is time for a colour challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. Our host Alison has given us this combo to play with

A Colour

and with this as my inspiration this is the card that I made

52CCT wk2 Feb Colour

My Cuttlebug got a bit of a work out making this card first for the cutting of the stars and 2nd for using an embossing folder that I got from a card making magazine last year. To give this simple design a little more interest I added some small holographic silver stickers.

I hope that you will consider coming over to the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and play along with our latest challenge. Thanks for stopping in to look at my Design Team project. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought

rainbow new beginning

I chose this quote because of the floods that have been happening in the northern part of the state I live in. The new beginning hasn’t even been able to start yet because there is still so much uncertainty with the weather. I pray that the clean up can start soon and people will know the way forward from here.

Until Next Time,

February Sketch Challenge

Hello Everyone.
A new month which means a new host over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. The month of February will be hosted by Alison. Since it is the first week of the month we start with a sketch and this is the one from Alison.
Alison chose a square card sketch but unfortunately I ran out of time to make a card of this size due to family issues. So I had to go with a card base I already had which meant making a rectangle instead. And this is what I came up with.
The only change to the dimensions are the outside which come in at 10cm x 14cm. I had these papers already in my stash at almost the correct size so I had a quick put together which was a good thing because of running behind.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. I hope to see you over at the 52 Challenge Blog with your entry. Before you go I would like to leave you with this thought
This goes out to all those chronic illness warriors – I am in this club – I wish you days that are filled with light and peace. And on the days when everything seems dark remember that you are not alone even if you feel that way.
Until Next Time Happy Crafting,

January Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Today over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge Andreja is bringing a colour challenge for us to play with. I like colour challenges because sometimes they get you to think outside the box with your crafting and Andreja definitely did that to me this time around.

january colour

Now those who know me know that I love purple 😉 but do you think that I could find any Christmas paper pads that had this combo … no! I have other occassion purple and green paper but not Christmas. But I was saved by a magazine that I had bought in December it  had downloadable papers that had purple and green some had aqua as well but I stuck with the purple and green ones and came up with this card.

Once I found that papers I didn’t know how to pull it all together so I looked through past sketches from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and I found this one from August 2016

The trees inspired me to choose the paper with faux stitched trees on it and instead of using a piece of paper for the strip I went digging in my washi stash and found this one. It’s a little transparent but I liked how it coordinated with the papers so I went with it.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. Please consider liking and commenting on my blog but also coming along and playing with the current challenge. Before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought.

embrace the new day

I like this photo because I like being near bodies of water especially if I am able to see a sunset or sunrise. I hope to catch a sunrise when I am away on holidays with my family. If I am lucky enough and the weather plays nice I maybe able to upload one of my photos or one my husband has taken.

January 2019 Sketch for 52CCT

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to 2019 and the start of the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenges for the year. During January the host of the challenges will be Andreja. Since its the first week of the month it is time for a sketch challenge and this is the sketch that we have had a chance to play with.

52CCT Jan2019

As I have been doing I have provided the metric measurements for those who may find them useful. As you can see it is a square card design and I don’t usually do squares because of the waste by-product of making the card base. But this is what I came up with

Jan2019 sketch w watermark

This card is on the simpler side because it is not full of layers and such. But I like how it turned out – I think it helped that I used products from the same company. These are from Kasiercraft and they are from the First Noel 6X6 paper pack.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team project. I hope that you will come over and play along with the current challenge. Maybe some of the other fabulous challenges that we have in store for you coming up. You can find the information about 52 Christmas Card Throwdown here. Before you go I would love to leave you with this final thought

I hope and pray that 2019 will be filled with laughter, fun and lots of craft! When times of sorrow or unhappy times come passing by remember that you will get through the other side. I would encourage you to dig into those relationships that fill you … so that during the happy times you are overflowing with joy and then during the harder times you have something to draw on – memories of better times to get you through.

Sending Christmas Love

Hello everyone. Yes I am back with another card that I have crafted today. I mean what else are you supposed to do when there are storms around the place? Craft of course! Well it helps with not liking storms much I get to concentrate on something else.

But any way onto the reason why you stopped by – my card project

11 Love at Christmas

This card was inspired by the blog Cards in Envy. Their challenge at the moment is Santa Baby and this stamp set is a new acquisition of mine and thought it fitted the challenge. But I wasn’t 100% of how to pull it all together so I went to favourite help – a sketch. And I found this one from the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge in November 2016

52 CCT Nov 2016

The sketch doesn’t come with measurements I have added them later myself but thought others may be interested. Each of the matting layers is cut 5 cm bigger than the measurements given above.

The small squares I used my Cuttlebug and a small stitched square by Uniquely Creative. All the other elements I cut using my paper trimmer. The papers that I used this time around are a 6X6 paper pad called Twig & Berry by Kasiercraft. I stamped the images in My Favourite Things Hybrid Ink and coloured them in with my Copic markers. All of this is matted with black layering weight paper.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. Please consider leaving a comment and liking the post. And as always before you go I would like to leave you with this thought for the day

Can not believe that the weekend is almost over as I type this. Where did it go? Now I know why I keep a planner otherwise I wouldn’t be able to keep up with life!

Have a Happy Crafty Planned Kind of Day,
❤ Tracy B
