AHSC no.501

Hello everyone.
I am here today to share with you my design team make for the latest Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. And this was an interesting one to get my head around.

I must admit that this card actually took me 2 goes to create. The first one I tried using my dies and I just couldn’t get the layers to sit right. So I turned to my Brother Scan and Cut for some assistance. And I was able to cut the layers a lot more even because I had the control of the sizing.

The papers that I used are from an old NitWit printed paper pad which I got with a magazine many years ago. I have a couple of their digital collections and love them. So when the papers were offered on a magazine I purchased it. I just loved the pastel colours and looking at it I am wondering why I never used it. As I wanted the 5 scallops to be the main focus of the card I left the background as a plain colour.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card for the AHSC #501. I hope that you will create with this sketch and then share it over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

Favourite Human

Hello everyone.
Today I am here to share with you a card which is made using the Double Trouble challenge which is actually closing soon. I had planned on uploading this earlier but lifeinteruptus happened. But at least I am getting share it before the challenge closes … yes?

They are teaming up with the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop so I will be entering my card into that challenge as well.

This card was inspired by the challenges but also gave me a chance to use up some of my scraps from a patterned paper pad I had been working through.

This cute little coffee cup and bean image is a digital image from Meljen’s Digital Designs. Unfortunately this company is no longer trading with all of their stamps. Some are available from Whimsy Stamps but the rest are gone. I love Melissa’s style of drawing and I will continue to use the stamps often. I coloured in this image with my copic markers to match the patterned papers. The sentiment is one I made using my computer and printer as I had nothing coffee related in my stash.

Everything is matted with a tan coloured cardstock but when I went to put it onto my black layer I found that I had cut my piece wrong. The layers were fully stuck and I didn’t want to ruin my image so I extended the top and lower part with some gold glitter washi tape. So good to be using stuff from my stash.

Thanks for taking the time to look at my card design. I hope that you find yourself being creative in any way today.

Until my next post,

SheetLoad Oct 2022

Hello everyone.
I am cutting this close for adding these cards that I made using the SheetLoad of Cards by Call Me Crafty Al (Alicia) on YouTube. But I loved this month’s sketch that I just had to give it ago.

Alicia is really wonderful and shares these templates for free to all of her YouTube channel subscribers; which I think is really generous of her considering all the work that goes into them.

Due to other things getting in the way, I couldn’t make the full set of 9 cards this month. But I am really happy with the 2 that I was able to create and these were actually created from strips of patterned paper that I had from other projects. So for me that was a win-win in my book.

These papers are from a card making kit from Paper Rose Studio called Sally’s Quilt. The flowers and holographic circles are from my sticker stash. The sentiment is from a set from Sentimentally Yours by Phil Martin called Boeheim Essential. I double matted that base layer as the strips were a little smaller than what I thought filled the card front nicely but I think that this gave an added dimension to an otherwise simpler card design.

This sketch and the how to info will definitely be pulled out again to be used at a future date. When I do I hope to be able to follow the directions to make the full set of 9 cards. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my cards using the SheetLoad of Cards.

Until my next post,

Life is a journey

Hello everyone.
As I mentioned in my previous post I loved the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday so much that while I had the supplies out I decided to make a 2nd card. Now here is the sketch again.

Isn’t Cuthbert in his card adorable. He is a retired digital stamp but I still love to craft with him because he always brings a smile to my face. Being a stamp means that I can colour him in any medium and in any colour combo I wish. This time around I coloured him in with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils; I can see lines in him as I coloured the image after I had attached the image to the card with adhesive tape.

This time around I didn’t stay true to the sketch and made a scalloped edge rectangle using my Brother ScanNCut machine. Doing this treatment on the edge was so much easier than trying to use detail scissors with my hands that give me pain when I try to do this now. I am still on a learning curve with the machine but it has already saved my crafting and for that I am grateful even though it was a large investment.

Thanks for stopping in and getting this far in my post. I love to receive feedback from my visitors so please consider leaving a comment or even just a like. I hope that you will find yourself being able to be creative in some way today.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.491

Hello Everyone.
It is so lovely to write this to you as the weather around me is getting warmer. Don’t get me wrong I am not looking forward to the heat of Summer, but Spring has started rather nicely.

Today I am sharing with you a card I have created using the latest sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This card was created with supplies that have been sitting in my stash for ages. The patterned paper and crystals are from Paper Rose Studios and the stamps are from an older stamp set from Stampin’ Upp called Vibrant Vases. This was a fun sketch to use and I think that I will end up using it again in the future.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my creation for sketch #491 from AHSC. I hope that you will come and create along with us and share your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

Hello Everyone.
Today I am sharing with you a card that I made using the latest sketch from Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This is a really simple styled card for me anyway! This die-cut lady has been sitting on my desk for ages and she finally made her way onto a card. The papers are from an older Paper Rose Studio collection called Sally’s Quilt. I actually got this collection as part of a cardmaking kit but never got to fully finish the papers.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card creation for the latest sketch #487 from AHSC. I hope that you will come and create along with us and share your creations over on the challenge blog.

Until next time,

AHSC no.477

Hello everyone. I am here with a card design using the sketch made by Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This is shown as a square card sketch but I have changed mine to be a portrait A6-sized card.

The background paper is just something that was sitting on my desk that I thought would look good as a background for the heart die that I used. The die is from Paper Rose Studio and it is called Floral Heart Metal Cutting Die. I placed this onto some white cardstock but it was too stark of a contrast so I used some Fired Brick Distress Ink and a Blending Brush just for some subtle colour. The sentiment flag I printed out on my computer as I couldn’t find anything in my stash suitable.

I left the card pretty simple this time because the die is so intricate and I didn’t want to take away from this. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for sketch no.477 from AHSC. I hope that you will come along and create with us and share your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next blog,

Where I Would Rather Be…

Hello everyone. I am here to share with you a card that I was able to make in amongst everything else going on in my world. This card was inspired by 2 challenges – a sketch challenge and an inspiration challenge.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday

The inspiration challenge from Just Add Ink started this creation because this picture was definitely where I would rather be at the moment. In Brisbane today we are experiencing the beginning of a cold snap – tomorrow is supposed to be worse. So at the moment, I would like to find somewhere warmer but not as hot as summer. Don’t want much do I ?!? Anyway onto the card instead of the weather 🙂

I did change the sketch so that it was a portrait rectangle instead of a square but kept all the main elements the same. These papers are from an older Kasiercraft paper pad which has been in my stash for quite a while, I hope to finish it off soon or I may donate it as I haven’t used it up yet and may never. The sentiment I printed on my laser printer and then ran it through my Minc machine with some silver foil even though in the picture it looks black.

Just putting this out there – why is photographing metallics so painful?

But anyway thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for the challenge combo. I hope that you have a fabulous day no matter what you are doing.

Until my next post,
Be Kind to Yourself and Others.

Hello everyone. I am here today to share with you my make using a sketch by Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. And if you have ever been to my blog before you will know that I love creating with sketches. I find them a wonderful place to start my card sketches. Here is the sketch that Michelle has designed for us to create with –

This sketch is perfect for using up your scraps leftover from a nearly completed paper pad. This is where these papers came from. There was such a variety of different designs I wasn’t 100% sure that they would all work together on the one card. But I think because they are only little parts of a larger piece it works. The most time-consuming part of this process was choosing which papers to put together.

The flower, leaves and sentiment are all from Paper Rose Studios. I am not really sure if the flower works but this was the first time using a page from a book and this design. I will do things differently next time I use this die and I also know that I can go a lot darker with my Distress Inks and not have it overpower the design.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using the sketch from AHSC. I hope that you will come and create along with us and please share your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

AHSC no.469

Hello everyone, today I am sharing with you my make with the current sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This sketch is shown as a slimline design but you can use it to make a traditional sized card as well. This is what I love about sketch designs they are a great place to start your design.

You can see that I have made an A6 sized card which is the common size in Australia. But I also couldn’t find any of my slimline supplies so I went with what I could find. This card is such a soft creation despite the use of red in the mix. I think that the main colour being light blue helped to calm the red down.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team card creation using sketch #469 from AHSC. I hope that you will create using this sketch and then show us your makes over on the challenge blog here.

Until my next post,
