52CCT June Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the 2nd Saturday in June, so we have a colour combination to create this week. And that combination is

This was an exciting combination as we don’t have the usual red included. But having different combinations is part of the fun of these challenges.

I went searching through my stash of Christmas papers and I found these 2 which were perfect. To these papers, I added some inking with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and also some Love From Lizi Pin Stripe Stickers as well as some green holographic stickers from my stash. The large sentiment is from Paper Rose Studio Crip Christmas Sentiment Sheets.

Thanks for stopping in and seeing what I created using the colour combination from the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I hope that you will come along and create with us and also share your makes over on our challenge blog.

Until my next post,

52CCT May 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. This is the 2nd week that I am hostess of the challenges over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. And with it being the 2nd week I am in charge of the colour choices to be used.

I came up with this colour combination by looking at the patterned paper pad that I wanted to use for this challenge. Those 3 colours that I chose were the predominant colours for the pad so I went with them.

My image has the light grey background and yellow of the wattle but it is mainly red and green then I added this brown paper which has a woodgrain pattern through it. I added a strip of green metallic paper between the two patterned papers to disguise the transition between them. The sentiment panel is printed on my computer as I didn’t have anything quite suitable in my stash. I decided to keep this one pretty simple so that it would be suitable for anyone to receive.

Until my next post,
Be kind to each other and yourselves.

52CCT February 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone. Here we are with the colour challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

I have a hard time with colour challenges as I never know if the colour hues that I am using truly work together. This card actually started with the stamp that I used because it was what I thought of using as soon as I saw the colour combo.

I stamped the edge of piece of white cardstock with both Bamboo Leaves and Cottage Ivy Memento Inks using my larger stamp platform as I wanted to make sure that I got a good impression. It saved me a few times during this process – I use either my large or small one each time I craft as I want to make sure I always get a good impression or darker colour by stamping twice if needed. The text dies are from an older Kasiercraft die set called Christmas Word Pack. I stuck a large sheet of double sided paper to some Mock Gold paper from House of Paper before running it through my Gemini Jnr machine. To assemble the card I adhered everything together to a white heavy-weight card base I decided against using any bling as I wanted the dies and stamping to be the heroes for this card.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card for the colour challenge over at 52CCT. To finish off this post I would like to leave you with this last thought.

Until my next post,

52CCT January 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. Here we are with the 2nd challenge for 2022 over at the Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and this time around it is a colour challenge. I have to admit that these challenges always throw my for a loop as I always doubt my choices. But this time around we have these colours to create with.

I found this Christmas paper pack on my desk and in it was both this hessian looking paper and the dark brown paper with golden Christmas words on it. I then just had to bring in the mid-brown colour from the challenge and this gave me the colour for my matting.

I wanted to add an image to the card so I went looking in my stamps to find something suitable and found this adorable deer image which I stamped onto some of the hessian looking paper and coloured him in with my Copic markers. Then I made a window for him to peek through by double cutting a piece of the matting paper with a stitched circle and then a smaller plain circle die using my Gemini Jnr machine. Before piecing all of the layers together I found this sentiment stamp and using my stamping platform I used some Rich Cocoa Memento Ink to stamp the image a couple of times to get a deep colour.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for the Colour challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come and create along with us and share your makeover on our challenge blog. Before I go I would love to leave you with this final thought for this post.

This is on my to do list this year – wonder how many treasures I’ll uncover in the process.

Until my next post,

Happy Birthday

Hello everyone. Well we are very close to the end of the year now but creating for me never stops. I am taking the opportunity while life is a little slower to build up my card stash for both myself and donating. This card came about by a happy accident – I have been using this paper pad on and off for a couple of months as I have had to do Christmas creations as well 🙂 Then I saw this colour challenge on the Sunday Stamps Challenge Blog.

And some of the papers fitted the last 3 so then I thought how could I bring in the first 3 colours and I decided to colour up and image.

Working with the paper pieces I had I put this together and then stamped the sentiment and the floral image. This flower has been in my stash for years and I found it again after my craft room reshuffle and new stamp storage. I added some green but I think that I could be forgiven for adding this. I coloured in this image with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils; I still have a love/hate relationship with this product but today we got along nicely. Now I have a birthday card ready for the 2022 year.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card creation for the Sunday Stamps Challenge #273. I hope that you have a fabulous day no matter what you find yourself doing.

Until my next post,

52CCT November 2021 Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. Here we are the 2nd challenge for November and this time we get to have some fun with colours. And this time around Gill has decided on this combination.

You may add black and white as accents but the rainbow must be the main focus of your creations.

I decided that I would do a technique called Reverse Stenciled Background. This technique has you creating your coloured background and then adding black ink over the background. So I chose 7 distress ink colours for the rainbow and used my ink blending brush to create a diagonal rainbow beginning and ending in red. Then I got to use a new stencil called Peace Love Joy 6X6 stencil from Paper Rose Studios and stuck the rainbow panel to it and used Black Soot Distress Ink. I was really happy how this panel turned out. I mounted this panel and a sentiment from Paper Rose Studios Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets on some gold paper.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for the colour challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come and create with us using the rainbow for Christmas. And then show us your creations over at the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

Best Wishes

Hello everyone. I hope that you have had a good start to your week. My week has started pretty good I have had time to get into my craft space and create some cards and do a little more rearranging of my craft space as well. With this post I am here to share my make for 2 challenges the Just Add Ink Colour Combination #575 and a sketch from Cheerful Sketch Challenge October 2021.

10 10th JAI575 2

Didn’t have the exact colours of the challenge but I went through my stash to find some that were close. While I was making the card I was doubting my choices but then as I started putting everything together it worked. Sometimes you have to trust the process and just keep going – if it doesn’t work then you will have learnt something. It is also great to be able to dig into my stash and supplies then make use of what is in there. Instead of the square to the left in the sketch I made this Zara Flower using a die set from Paper Rose Studio and added some Gold Nuvo Drops to it center. It was just another way of adding the colours into the design.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design that was created by combining challenges from Just Add Ink and Cheerful Sketches. I hope that you will find yourself doing something that you love.

Until my next post,

52CCT September 2021 Colour

Hello everyone. It is week 2 of September and over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge we have a colour challenge happening at the moment.

We ask that you stick to these main colours but you may add accents of grey, black, white and a little brown.

09 2021 Wk2 Colour

To make my card I first made a card base in Cricut Design Space welding together a Star and a card base with a thick border to be able to hide my adhesive. To make the background to this card top I used Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress Inks with Shine On Stars Stencil by Echo Park. To fill in the background I stenciled in 1 of the colours and then shifted the stencil and just repeated this process 3 times.

Once I had placed the card top onto the background I used the leftover Faded Jeans around the middle of the star just to add a little more colour. I cut a sentiment from the Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets using a Stitched Rectangle Die and both of these are from Paper Rose Studios. To finish off the card I add some dark blue holographic circles which have been in my stash for years.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team make for the 52CCT September Colour Challenge. I hope that you will come and create with us using this colour combo.

Until my next post,

52CCT August 2021 Colour

Hello everyone. It is colour challenge time over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and this week we have these colours to play with.

These colours are definitely a different combination for a Christmas creation but I think that this is why I’m starting to enjoy these challenges because they can stretch your creativity.

08 2021 Wk2 Colour

I didn’t have any cardstock that could have worked so I decided to dig into my stencil supply and use some of my distress inks to help me out with this combo. I am really pleased with the background that I was able to create. The image I had printed a little while ago so I coloured her up with my Copic markers and added some dots of gold pen to her dress. I added a sentiment from Paper Roses Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets and then placed some pink Nuvo drops just to finish things off.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design for the colour challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will stop on by the other designers and see how they went about creating their cards. Then think about coming and creating with us with this or any of our challenges.

Until my next post,

52CCT July Colour Challenge

Hello everyone. I have to admit that me and colour challenges don’t always get along. You would have thought that with this months colours including a favourite of mine that it would have been a synch. But I struggled but I was able to create this card.

This cardstock is the deepest purple that I had in my stash so I cut it to slightly smaller than an A6 card front and put it through my Gemini Jnr machine with a Christmas Words embossing folder. I attached this panel to a piece of gold shimmer cardstock which I was using for my matting layer and also the strip and the die cut words.

The die cut words from Kasiercraft Christmas Word pack don’t come with a layering die and I wanted them to stand out on my card and also add the white colour from the challenge. So I cut the Merry Christmas words from the gold shimmer cardstock which I backed with double sided tape before doing so to make attaching later easier instead of dealing with liquid glue. I placed the words above each other on some heavy weight white cardstock and then cut around them leaving a border. I attached the main panel to a white card base and using last weeks sketch as inspiration I placed the gold strip in the same placement as the larger strip on the sketch. The word layer I put dimensional squares behind before attaching to the card over the strip and I also added more of the shimmer circles from my stash this time in the gold colour.

Thanks for taking the time to come and look at my design team make for the July Colour challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come and play along with our challenges sometime. May today find you doing something that you truly love.
