52CCT March 2022 Sketch

Hello Everyone.
Here we are in March already and with it being the 1st Saturday of the month it is sketch time over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge Blog. The sketch we have to create with is

I went into my Christmas paper stash and found this Kasiercraft Australian-themed paper pad that I have been working my way through. The cockatoo bird image is one of the cut apart images that is part of the pad. The clear embossing on the floral images caught the light and didn’t photograph very well as I was concentrating on trying to work with the floral paper which also had the embossing as well. I put both the cockatoo and sentiment banner up on some foam squares before attaching them to the card.

I think that someone who loves walking in the bush seeing both the flowers and the cockatoo will like this Christmas card. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my design team make for the sketch challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will come and create along with us and share your makes over on our challenge blog. Before you leave though I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Until my next post,

52CCT February 2022 Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone. Here we are with the colour challenge for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

I have a hard time with colour challenges as I never know if the colour hues that I am using truly work together. This card actually started with the stamp that I used because it was what I thought of using as soon as I saw the colour combo.

I stamped the edge of piece of white cardstock with both Bamboo Leaves and Cottage Ivy Memento Inks using my larger stamp platform as I wanted to make sure that I got a good impression. It saved me a few times during this process – I use either my large or small one each time I craft as I want to make sure I always get a good impression or darker colour by stamping twice if needed. The text dies are from an older Kasiercraft die set called Christmas Word Pack. I stuck a large sheet of double sided paper to some Mock Gold paper from House of Paper before running it through my Gemini Jnr machine. To assemble the card I adhered everything together to a white heavy-weight card base I decided against using any bling as I wanted the dies and stamping to be the heroes for this card.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card for the colour challenge over at 52CCT. To finish off this post I would like to leave you with this last thought.

Until my next post,

AHSC #459

Hello Everyone. Today’s card features a sketch from Michelle over at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. If you have been too my blog before you know that I love creating with sketches.

The sketch is set out for a slimline card but I don’t have any supplies to be able to create one of these so I created with this sketch to make an A6 sized card which is standard for Australia. This is one thing that I love about sketches they can be a wonderful jumping off point for your creations and you can use them to fit the supplies that you have.

This card was made with some very soft pink patterned paper from an older Kasiercraft paper pad. And these Zinnia flower stamps have been sitting in my stash for quite a number of years. Too the point of them turning yellow but they still stamp as crisp as the day I bought them. After I stamped them using my stamp positioner and some My Favorite Things Black Hybrid Ink I coloured them in with my Copic Markers. I thought that the purple would offset againt the main pink elements well and they did 🙂 Once I had finished colouring in the images I fussy cut around them.

Then I put the rest of the elements together. I put double sided backing paper onto some lightweight black paper before running this through my Gemini Jnr with the 3 window die called Card Creator 2 from Paper Rose Studios. To make things a little easier on myself I just peeled off the release paper from the die cut and laid this over the top of the pink & gold dot paper and then cut around it instead of inlaying each piece. I attached this to the middle of my cards main panel with my ATG and then added the Zinnia flowers with some Nuvo glue. Then I picked out a sentiment from the Black & White Sentiment Sheets from Paper Rose Studios. This is one of the white sentiments that I coloured purple with some Distress Inks as the white was just too stark for the rest of the elements on the card and I added some purple iridesent circle stickers to finish.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card as part of the design team for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I hope that you will create along with the sketch and show us your creations over at the challenge blog. Before you go off and continue with your day I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Until my next post,

52CCT January 2022 Sketch

Hello Everyone. Welcome to another year of fun challenges with the talented designers over on the 52Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. The challenges are starting this week and as always we are starting our Challenges with a sketch.

I love sketches so I always love creating a card using one. Sketches are great for getting your creative flow going.

I have pretty much stuck with the sketch with the only change being the use of the hand-cut Emu image instead of the star as indicated on the sketch. I have some Australian Birds that I have cut out from one of the sheets in a Kasiercraft paper pad that I have been working through and I thought it would go nicely with the other 2 papers that I chose. The sentiment is from the Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets from Paper Rose Studio. The only additional thing that I added to this card was some circle holographic stickers from my stash and that finished the card off.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the card sketch over on the 52Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. Please check out what the other designers have done with this sketch. But I also hope that you will come and craft along with us and share your makes over on our challenge page.

Until my next post,

AHSC #445

Hello Everyone. Welcome to November! What!! How did that happen? We are coming to the end of the year but we are still having fun with challenges. And Michelle from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge has given us a wonderful sketch to create with this week.

AHSC 445

I loved this sketch as it allowed me to use up some of the longer strips of patterned paper that I had at the end of this patterned paper pad. Sketches like these really help me to finish off paper pads and they stay in my to be used again pile for when I need inspiration. The only inclusions not in the paper pad were the brown cardstock which I used for the band across the card and the metallic maroon cardstock layer as I didn’t want to add another patterned piece as it looked way too busy. All of the layers were matted with black cardstock and I used my Minc machine to gold emboss the sentiment layer. The bunny and heart are from the coordinating ephemera pack and were a perfect size. After I put everything together I added some Shimmering Rose Nuvo Drops and let them dry just to add some interest in the corners.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for sketch #445 from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I hope that you will create along with us and show us your creations over at the AHSC blog. Have a great day.

Until my next post,

You are Awesome

Hello Everyone. Today I am sharing with you a card that I made using the challenge over at Try Stampin’ On Tuesday #528. This time around it is a combination challenge.

To give myself a bit of a challenge I decide to go with the both option.

10 20th TSOT528

For the technique part of this card I used the square of the sketch and cut the kraft cardstock and folded the flaps back and secured them with foam tape. I then secured a purple flower foiled paper behind and added a circle ephemera piece with some more foam tape. I added some striped paper to the bottom from the same paper pack and added a sentiment from Paper Rose Studio A5 Black and White Sentiment Pack which I inked with some Wilted Violet Distress Ink. I found the black & white twine in my stash and wrapped it around 3 times after it was secured to the card front I added the bow and cut all the ends.

If I were to make this card like this again I would pop up the purple metallic paper so that you couldn’t see the twines effect on the paper, I’m not liking this element. But you live and learn when trying stash items you haven’t used in an age. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design.

Until my next post,

AHSC #443

Hello Everyone. Today I am sharing with you my design team make for Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #443.

AHSC 443

I loved this sketch but I don’t have any Autumn/Fall papers in my stash or stamps either. But I found this older Kasiercraft paper pad in my stash that had the ephemera pack as well. This I thought would work with the elements of the sketch, in the pack I found this large rose image and the heart. The papers for the squares were actually off cuts from other projects; I love finding sketches that allow me to work through paper pads that have been sitting in my stash sometimes for years.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design for the AHSC #443. I hope that you will come and play along with us and show us your makes over on the challenge blog.

Until my next post,

Shine Bright

Hello Everyone. Welcome to the end of the week – well it’s the end of the working week which means life can settle down for a couple of days. It has been quite a busy week filled with appointments and unfortunately health rollercoaster but I love being able to get into my craft room and not focus on anything other than crafting.

But any way onto the craft project that allowed me to forget about the outside world for awhile. I decided to make another card for the Cheerful Sketches Challenge for October 2021.

10 10th CSC Oct2021

I decided to have some fun with my distress inks and stencil and made this background and thought that the rectangle in the sketch could be represented by this old polaroid die from Kasiercraft. I cut the polaroid from cream metallic paper using my Gemini Jnr machine and then cut around this with my scissors and corner rounder. Some silhouette images from my supplies were found that I thought would work together and within the “photo” space; if I were to do this again I think that I would add more of the flower images – looking at it now it looks a little sparse. The rest of the sketch I pretty much stuck too.

So this is another take of mine of the Cheerful Sketches October 2021 Challenge. Thanks for stopping by and having a look at my creation, I hope that you find yourself doing something crafty today.

Until my next post,
Be Kind to Yourself and Others.

I had a lot of fun creating this window to put my festive Cockatoo into. This card was made using the paper pad called “Under the Gum Leaves” by Kasiercraft. I also added some Love from Lizi peel offs just to jazz things up a little.
Thanks for stopping in and looking at my Design Team work for the Window Technique Challenge over at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown blog. Hello Happy Birthday

Hello everyone, today I am sharing with you a card that I got to make. I made it using the paper pad that was sitting on my desk from the previous card and a new sketch from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

11 03 Apple Birthday

And here is the sketch that I used #340 from AHSC

As you can see I flipped the sketch – I did this because of the elements that I had. The sentiment flag was a pre-printed one and I couldn’t change the orientation so I went with what I had. The checked element is some washi tape that I have in my stash. Most of my elements have been backed with green lightweight cardstock.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project today. I appreciate all of the likes and comments that my posts have been receiving 🙂 Before you go from my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought to ponder on.
