Sympathy Bird

Hello Everyone,
I think that most card makers would agree that there is 2 types of cards that we don’t have an easy time making. Those 2 being Masculine and Sympathy cards.

Well today I was requested by a friend to make a sympathy card for her Son and his Girlfriend. She has just lost her beloved Grandmother.  So I set about finding an image that I thought would be suitable and a colour combination that I thought would work.

I remember the colour combination that Color Throwdown has at the moment and then I looked at one of my favourite card sketch blogs and I liked the sketch that was being used at the moment.

Color Throwdown #495 and Case this Sketch #274

and this is my interpretation of this combo
Sympathy Bird.jpgThis bird image is from the Australian Simply Cards magazine Issue 117.  It is actually a layering stamp and this was my first time using such a set and I have to say I had a lot of fun with it.  I gold heat embossed the sympathy sentiment its very subtle but I like it.

I would like to thank you for stopping by my project and blog today. And as always I would like to leave you with this thought:

A Favourite Technique

Hello Everyone,
I am here to actually share with you 2 things
1: A Card Project and 2: A Mini Ink Pad Storage Update

First off my card project.  This card was inspired by the AAA Cards: Favourite Technique challenge.  I meant to upload this a few days ago but time and life got away from me.
Celebrate Style.jpgI love using my Distress Inks over Stencils; it gives me an opportunity to put quite a lot or little amount of colour into a project depending on which stencil I use or what I am wanting to achieve.  This stencil came on the free on the front of a card making magazine and I really love the design.

As I just mentioned I love using my Distress Inks but I am a complete klutz and usually get the ink that goes on my fingers from changing out the foam between colours onto places I don’t want.  So my Husband helped me to make wooden dowel pieces that are just smaller than a Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool Foam and they were perfect … with  a major draw back!! They no longer fitted into my Ink Storage Shelf that my Husband had previously made for me
BeforeChange.jpgAs you can see the pad is quite squished in! And my Husband said that he could update it so that the pads weren’t squished.
Ink Storage.jpgInk Storage close up.jpg
As you can see from the zoomed in photo above they are no longer squished and have the dowel installed already.  And before you wonder – no this photo isn’t upside down – I store my ink pads this way but I named all of them before I decided to store them like this.

The left side of the storage unit is spaced for my Mini Distress Inks and the right side is for my stamping inks which I don’t use blending foam with.  But I have noticed that I may end up outgrowing this so I may need to ask Image result for winking emoji freemy Husband if he can make a new one only wider or taller.

Thank you for coming by and looking at my card project and my updated ink storage unit.  And as always I want to leave you with this thought before you leave:

Christmas Time, Greeting Cards

Peace, Love and Joy

Hello Everyone,
Another Christmas card finished but this time around a very simple understated card.  There are some people on my card list that don’t like a lot of fuss or anything.  So I tried to go simple and under stated and this is what I came up with.

peacelovejoy.jpg
I am actually quite please with how this turned out and I definitely will not have to pay any access postage on this card.

As with most of my cards this one started out with my searching for a sketch that I would like to use and this sketch from CASe this Sketch

was just the ticket.  I could have fun with it and I can see this becoming a favourite of mine.  To make this card I used an old Sizzix Christmas Tree Large die to make a stencil and stuck it down to the paper using some painters tape.  Then I got out my Peeled Paint Distress Ink and a sponge dauber and using the cut out from making the stencil I sponged the Ink up the tree to give it a little dimension.

Once I had completed this I used a pink sparkle pen to make the tinsel and I found some iridescent circle stickers of various sizes in my stash which I used to represent the baubles.  I then used my Cuttlebug to cut from gold paper the words using the Kasiercraft Christmas Word Dies.  Once this was adhered and before I put it on the card front I sponged around the edge of the card base using the same Distress Ink I used on the tree and that completed my very simple card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation.  And as always I would love to leave you with this thought before you go:
Unfortunately this is me at the moment.
I have so much to accomplish but I have no desire to do what I have too so I am doing what I want to do instead!  Anybody else do this?

Falling Leaves

Hello Everyone,
Another card inspired by two card challenges again, this is the 2nd card  I have to go into both of these challenges. I just loved the challenge idea so much and it helps me to build up my made card stash.

So the challenges are

and alsof27dc-2523102

And this is the outcome for the combination of these 2 challenges
Falling Leaves.jpg
The leaf stamp set is an older one from Bo Bunny but it’s one of my favorite ones. So I used some painters tape and scrap paper to mask off an area.

I chose to use 3 Distress Inks to achieve the Teal strip. Leaving the painters tape in place I stamped the leaves using both a Green and Red ink on each of the leaves. I was really pleased with how this turned out I think I may make a couple more using this combination.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:

I am definitely not the same I was at the beginning of this year, month, week or even day. It’s just learning to leave with each of the changes that is hard.

Colour Play

Hello Everyone, I am so late getting this card up but here in the southern hemisphere we are in Spring and this season is looking to be a stormy one. The kinds of storms we get here are ones with lightning and lots of rain. So when these threaten we have to shut down all non-essential electrical appliances – unfortunately that includes my computer.  So I have only had this opportunity before another storm is predicted to come our way.

But any-who: onto the main reason for this post, my card creation.
Birthday Slant.jpgThis card was totally inspired by the Color Throwdown #466 of Plum, Olive and Rust. Unfortunately I don’t have those exact colours but I tried to stay within the colour families. I decided to get out my fish scale stencil and have a play with two of the colours and then used the 3rd colour to make the sentiment layer. I hope that this is acceptable for the challenge.

It was so good to drag out 1 of my many stencils and have a play around. I made another card also using these colours but I wasn’t 100% happy with the results. But I still had fun with my stencils.  I forgot how much fun this can be; I’m going to have to visit some of the old techniques and some new ones for using with stencils. This playing with colours can result in some interesting backgrounds that can be turned into or used partly on cards.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:
