Today I am bringing you a twist on a sketch. If you been reading my blog for awhile you will know that I love using sketches as a starting point for my cards. Well I also love playing along with the challenges at both Shopping Our Stash – their challenge is to create with Butterflies and at the Cards in Envy Challenge; this time around they have a 1 layer challenge going on and this made me ask a question.
“Could I make a 1 layer card using a card sketch?”
Of course it would have to be the right sketch to do this experiment with but would it really be possible? And sketch #512 from Sketch Saturday looked like a possible candidate.
So the challenges I have chosen to combine these challenges
Once I found these challenges I then had to go looking for an image that I could use in this experiment. So I went looking in my images and found Pure Prairie Bouquet by Power Poppy and I thought it would work well. So I printed out the digital image and then set to work on how to turn this sketch into a 1 layer card. And this is the result:
I am really happy with how this turned out. I hope that you like my interpretation on the sketch. The circular element I coloured with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils and I used a warm grey pencil around the outside of the image to give the illusion of a layer being their. I heat embossed the 70 with some black glitter powder and I called the card finished.
Thanks again for stopping by and looking at my project. Please let me know what you thought of my take on the sketch and keeping it to 1 layer. And as always before you go I want to leave you with this thought:
Change is hard but it’s necessary. We don’t like going through any kind of change but I think at least 95% of the time we are the better for it.
Have a Happy Blessed Crafty Kind of Day,
I told you in my previous post that I had 2 cards to upload today and here is the 2nd one. So yes it is again for the CASe this Sketch #268 with Chrissy and the Color Throwdown #489 combination.
This time around though I decided to make a Christmas card because that is one of the things that came to mind when I saw the colour and picture combination. Here in the southern hemisphere we have a very warm Christmas and strawberries feature on many a pavlova. So here is my card
Unfortunately I couldn’t find a strawberry picture to add to my card but I was really happy to use this very colourful patchwork Christmas tree from OddBall Art Co on Etsy. This is one of their older digi stamps but it is still a favourite of mine because I have a lot of friends who love playing with fabric so this image is great for their Christmas card. The tree is coloured in with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils and I have gone over each section with Zest-It to smooth the colouring out. The papers are a variety of papers from my large stash of Christmas stock.
Thanks again for stopping by and looking at my project. I am so glad to have another one of my Christmas cards finished. I have fallen behind with everything that has happened since Christmas last year. And as always before you leave I wish to leave you with is thought:
Have a Happy Crafty Fun filled kind of Day,
Yes I am using my laptop after sitting at my card making desk! (((YEAH))) Wondering why I am celebrating check out my “Why am I missing?” post.
It felt so good to be at my desk that I actually made 2 cards for the same challenge but using 2 different sketches. And along with the card crafting I actually felt like doing some colouring as well. But my foot is feeling a little sore now from being down for so long – well actually it hates being in the boot!!
Any-who onto the card!
This image Heart Melt is from Power Poppy and its part of the Va-Va Valentine Collection. Isn’t it great! I loved it as soon as I saw it I had to colour it up for the
Power Poppy & Page Maps Collaboration Challenge
So as you can see I used this Horizontal card map
Now that I have been introduced to this company I will be stopping by often to see the new “Maps” that they come up with. This is one of my favourite places to start when making a card project.
The image was coloured with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils, I love using this colouring medium.
(I hope to be able to take up colouring classes with Alyce from Kit and Clowder again one day so that I can improve even more. I can highly recommend any of the classes presented by Alyce. She is the BEST teacher on the internet by far!! What you pay is worth so much more than she charges.)
Since I made this card for my Hubby for Valentines Day I decided to use more masculine papers too make the actual card. So good to use up some stash papers.
Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. Before you leave as always I would like to leave you with this thought
In the last 6 months I have experienced all of this and it is through the love of my God plus my family and friends that I am able to keep moving forward. Even if at the moment it is at a slow pace.
Have a Happy Crafty Fun Filled kind of Day,
