Sympathy Hard to Craft

Hello Everyone,
The card that I am bringing you today is on a subject that crafters including myself find hard to do – sympathy. But this is a part of our lives just like all the other ones so I have decided that I need to craft these in amongst my other ones so that I don’t have to try and craft this particular type of card when I am in the situation.

01 14 for your loss

Something that you may notice about this card from my usual cards is the background to the photo. I am actually crafting while away with family and don’t have my usual setup so this is the dining table of our accommodation.

But anywho onto the card … This is an older Bugaboo image that I have coloured in with my Polychromos pencils. I printed this image onto the plaid paper that is behind it. The papers are from the Kasiercraft 6X6 paper pack Sweet Pea. The placement inspiration for this card came from this card sketch

This is the first sketch for the year from this challenge site. The papers are from a Kasiercraft paper pad called ‘Sweet Pea’. All of my matting is done with some Sunshine Yellow paper. My sentiment comes from Uniquely Creatives Banner Sentiment Builder clear stamp set. I like this set as its quite useful for many different occasions.
Thanks for coming by to look at my project please consider leaving a comment before you leave to let me know that you have stopped on by. And also before you go I would love to leave you with this final thought
Thinking about the end of life makes me consider what I will be leaving behind when I do go. Is what I am going to leave how I want to be remembered? Some things yes other things not so much. So I am working on changing the things I’m not so happy with. What about you – will you be remembered in the way you want to be?

Until Next Time,

Sympathy Bird

Hello Everyone,
I think that most card makers would agree that there is 2 types of cards that we don’t have an easy time making. Those 2 being Masculine and Sympathy cards.

Well today I was requested by a friend to make a sympathy card for her Son and his Girlfriend. She has just lost her beloved Grandmother.  So I set about finding an image that I thought would be suitable and a colour combination that I thought would work.

I remember the colour combination that Color Throwdown has at the moment and then I looked at one of my favourite card sketch blogs and I liked the sketch that was being used at the moment.

Color Throwdown #495 and Case this Sketch #274

and this is my interpretation of this combo
Sympathy Bird.jpgThis bird image is from the Australian Simply Cards magazine Issue 117.  It is actually a layering stamp and this was my first time using such a set and I have to say I had a lot of fun with it.  I gold heat embossed the sympathy sentiment its very subtle but I like it.

I would like to thank you for stopping by my project and blog today. And as always I would like to leave you with this thought:

Sympathy Not Easy

Hello Everyone, the card I am bringing you today is a type of card that I do not like making but then again who does? This is a type of card that we don’t like making but unfortunately this event does happen in our lives or that of our friends.

When I was thinking about making this card I wanted to make something that had some happy colours. The reason behind this is that so many of the funerals that I have attended have been a celebration of the persons life. And many of these people lived a colourful and full life – like my beautiful Mum who passed away earlier this year.

Anywho onto the card creation:
Sympathy Swirls.jpgI am really happy with how it turned out. It’s colourful but also simple. For this card I used my Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Wild Honey and Worn Lipstick to colour over the Tim Holtz Scribbles Stencil. The With Sympathy sentiment comes from a collection by the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine from the UK.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my creation. And now I would like to leave you with a thought before you leave:

Thanks Mum and Dad, I miss you both quite often.
