52CCT May 2022 Technique Challenge

Hello everyone. It is the 4th week of my hosting duties over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. With it being the 4th week it means that I am at the end of my hosting duties (except for announcing the winner of this challenge) and I am so grateful for everyone who has come over to the challenge blog and participated in the challenges that I set.

But anywho onto this weeks challenge –

This is a video from YouTube showing this technique. It’s not a Christmas card but the process is very clear.

I used a stamp set of Christmas baubles for my creation. I used my stamping platform to stamp this out as I wanted to make sure that if I needed to restamp any of the images there wouldn’t be any problems especially if I was halfway through the process. And I did need to restamp a couple of the images. This was a really fun technique to use but I can see doing this cutting technique with patterned paper as well.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design using my chosen technique of triple time stamping. I hope that you will give this technique a try and come and share your makes over on the 52CCT challenge blog.

Until my next post,
Please, be kind to yourself and others.

52CCT April 2022 Technique Challenge

Hello everyone. Here we are at the end of April and it is technique time over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

I must admit that I had forgotten about this technique. This technique is one that I did back in the early 90’s I think when I was first starting out with cardmaking. I am definitely glad that I went with a more solid image for this as I think it allowed the image to pop and not the inking that came second. This Christmas tree stamp has been sitting in my stash for a number of years and was a pleasant discovery while in search of something to use for this technique. If you would like to learn more about this technique here is a link to a YouTube video that I found really helpful.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my design team make for the technique challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will create along with us and share your creations over on our challenge blog.

Until my next post,

52CCT March 2022 Technique Challenge

Hello Everyone. I hope that this post finds you all safe and going well. With this post I am here to share with you all my card using a technique for this weeks challenge over at the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

Before movement
After the pull movement.

This card took a while for me to figure out how to make things work as I didn’t have some of the products I needed so I made do with what I had. The main panel in the middle is usually put up on foam but I don’t have strips I only have squares and I didn’t thing that these would work so I used cardboard and double sided tape instead. This worked out really well and gave the moving element a lot of stability.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card make for this weeks technique challenge over at the 52CCT blog. I hope that you will make a card with a moving element and show us your makes over on the blog.

Until my next post,
Be Kind to Yourself and Others.

52CCT October 2021 Technique Challenge

Hello Everyone. Today I am sharing with you a card for the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. This being the 4th week Maja had a choice between a Stash or Technique Challenge. This month we are playing with a technique.

When I first read that it was going to be a Pop-Up Technique challenge – I thought that I knew where I was going to go with this challenge. But things changed as I looked at my stash and what I had available. Then I read Maja post for this challenge and she said we would be exploring many ways to do Pop Up. So I decided that I would use my foam and card stock to pop each level of my shadowbox up.

This die set has been sitting in my stash for quite a number of years but I thought that it would work perfectly with making a shadow box and it did. To start this card I cut each of the windows then I could see where each of the layers would sit within each window and not block the previous die cut. Once I had put each of the layers together I added a silver Merry Christmas sticker to some black cardstock and cut around it with my detail scissors. Using the star die from the set I cut this from holographic paper and then added this to the first layer.

I am really happy with the direction that this card took and I am glad that you stopped on by to look at my creation for the October 2021 Technique Challenge for 52CCT. I hope that you will come and create along with us and upload your makes to our challenge blog. Also why not stop on by the other creators blogs and see how they used this technique to create their cards.

Until my next post,

Card Project, Cards and Craft, Challenge Entry

You are Awesome

Hello Everyone. Today I am sharing with you a card that I made using the challenge over at Try Stampin’ On Tuesday #528. This time around it is a combination challenge.

To give myself a bit of a challenge I decide to go with the both option.

10 20th TSOT528

For the technique part of this card I used the square of the sketch and cut the kraft cardstock and folded the flaps back and secured them with foam tape. I then secured a purple flower foiled paper behind and added a circle ephemera piece with some more foam tape. I added some striped paper to the bottom from the same paper pack and added a sentiment from Paper Rose Studio A5 Black and White Sentiment Pack which I inked with some Wilted Violet Distress Ink. I found the black & white twine in my stash and wrapped it around 3 times after it was secured to the card front I added the bow and cut all the ends.

If I were to make this card like this again I would pop up the purple metallic paper so that you couldn’t see the twines effect on the paper, I’m not liking this element. But you live and learn when trying stash items you haven’t used in an age. Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card design.

Until my next post,

52CCT June 2021 Technique Stash Challenge

Hi Everyone. For the month of June I have been the hostess for the challenges over at the 52Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge and here we are with the final challenge. I got to choose between a Technique or Stash Challenge but I decided to combine them together because I could.

Now with a Tic Tac Toe challenge you get to choose a line of elements to create with. So it can be left to right on either line or top to bottom on either line or diagonal. Lots of choices to be made.

06 2021 Wk4 StashTech

So for my creation I chose a diagonal which is Tag/Patterned Paper/Ribbon or Twine. The llama image I had coloured in with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils a while ago and while putting my craft space back together after renovations I found this tag die in my stash. It all came together well after I found these elements.

I hope that you will come and play along with our challenge over at 52CCT. I want to send a shout out to all of the other designers and thank them for all of their wonderful creations with my choices for the June challenges. Thanks for stopping in on my blog today.

Until my next post,

52CCT April 2021 Technique Challenge

04 2021 Wk4 Technique

Hello eveyone, we are here at the last challenge for April and this means that our hostess Branka was able to choose between a Technique or Stash Challenge. And we have

Branka has asked us over on the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge to only use stamping on our cards this time around – so no commercially printed papers.

To make this card with no commercially printed papers I decided to make my own 😉 using one of my favourite digital stamps from Bugaboo called “Christmas Tree Word Art” and this stamp makes for a quick make when you use it as a single stamp. Once I printed 2 copies of this page out I went about making a card based on the technique of Triple Time Stamping. Usually you would cut your panels and then temporally stick them together and then do the stamping. I thought that this would be an opportunity to show off this one stamp and maybe show you something different to use your pre-coloured digital images.

But since I was using digital stamps I printed 2 copies of the panel that I had made and then started the cutting using a die set from Paper Rose Studio called “Stitched Rectangle Australian Sized Nesting Dies”. I used the 3rd largest and the 4th smallest dies. Then layered each rectangle onto maroon layering cardstock and stuck each layer together carefully matching up the printed design with the layer below. Then I went through the Crisp Christmas Sentiment Sheets from Paper Rose Studio and found a sentiment that looked right just sitting by itself without a separate layer.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the 52CCT Technique Challenge for April. I hope that you will go and visit the other designers blogs and see how they made their cards and then consider coming and joining in on the fun and uploading your makes to our blog. Before you go off and do that though I would love to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Until my next post,

52CCT February 2021 Technique Challenge

Hello everyone. We are getting closer to the end of February which in my household means renovations will be beginning soon. But this will definitely not stop me from crafting. I think that you can tell that I am a crafter because the first things that I worked out that were coming with me was my crafting supplies and how much I could get into our new accommodations. The final things will have been packed by the time this post goes live 😀

But any who onto the main reason for this post. My interpretation of this weeks technique challenge over on the 52Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge.

I must admit to not doing a lot of mixed media and not really understanding it fully. But I went down the rabbit hole of the internet and got a little lost while searching. And this is what I came up with after my research.

02 2021 Wk4 Technique

Since I am down to a limited stash due to our renos I had to use what I still had to hand. So in my paper drawer I found the Kraft paper and this was my starting point. I still had my stencils and some ink. So with my Tim Holts Guillotine Trimmer I cut out 3 tree shapes but decided that I would have them at different lengths. Then I stenciled on top of each one with 3 different coloured inks and added some tinsel with my gold pen. I had some Christmas paper still on my desk and laid my trees on top but it just didn’t look right – the 2 smaller trees looked like they were floating on air and the background paper was too bright.

So out came another stencil and more ink and I was hoping that this would work and not ruin my background paper. I liked the end result and then decided to ink around all the pieces and make some pots and trunks for my smaller trees. When I put everything back together I was almost happy then I sponged black ink around all of the pieces and this just brought everything together. Each tree was missing a star from the top but lucky for me I still had my sticker stash on hand; I found 3 different stars to use. I layered my panel onto some green cardstock and then put this onto a card base.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team make for the Technique Challenge over at 52CCT. I hope that you will consider coming along and playing with us. Before you go off to make your creation I would love to leave you with a last thought for this post.

Just a hope that our renos will help our home to fully become better.

Until my next post,
Be kind to Yourself and Others.

52CCT October 2020 Technique Challenge

Hello everyone, here we are at the end of October already. Only 2 months until Christmas – WOW! Well actually only 6 weeks until I have to get my letters and cards in the post. Yes I still send quite a few cards each year, actually I send cards out quite regularly during the year.

This being the 4th week of October means that we could have had a Technique or Stash challenge. And this time we have a Technique to play along with and that technique is …

04 October technique

I must admit that I don’t do a lot of different types of folds on my cards because they can cost more to post but I can use this card for someone that I will give personally.

10 Wk4 Technique1

From the it looks quite normal but then …

10 Wk4 Technique2

This is called a Double Z Fold and I do like making them this way because they give a good sized writing area for a message to the recipient. I didn’t do a lot of embellishment on this card because I wanted the fold to be the main event with this card. Just adding some Love From Lizi Gold Straight Stickers to give a bit more and to help the circle die cut be more at home on the card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my Design Team card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. Please let me know that you have stopped on by today, I appreciate it all. Before you depart my blog I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

52CCT September Technique – Partial Stenciling

Hello everyone. Can you believe that we are at the end of September! I think that this year is both flying by and also going slower than a sloth. But any who onto the reason that you stopped by – my design team card. This time around we get to do some partial stenciling; I can hear you say what is that well below I have included a link to a Youtube video by Jennifer McGuire who explains.

September technique

And this is the card that I created after watching this video.

09 Wk4 Tech

To make the star I got some copy paper and cut out the star with a die but kept the star for later use. I then temporarily adhered it to my main panel so that it wouldn’t move during the inking process. Next I chose a distress ink which was Mowed Lawn and used a Star stencil but I thought that it was a little sparse so then I chose a 2nd ink this time Wild Honey and a circle stencil.

When I took off the mask I didn’t like that the edges of the start weren’t really recognizable but this is where I used the star die cut and held it in place while sponging the edge with Black Soot Distress Ink. To finish off the card I used an Aussie Santa Die Cut from Paper Rose and a sentiment I’ve had for years. I am really pleased with how it all came together.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my design team card for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge. I hope that you will pop on over to the blog and see what the other designers have been up to. Before you go over there though I would love to leave you with this last thought for this post.
