Chase Your Dreams

Hello everyone, what a lot of fun I am having with the sketch from Sketch Saturday. I have actually made a 2nd card using this sketch; this card is more on the simple side but I am really happy with how it turned out. Card crafting at the moment is one thing I can do without my pain levels skyrocketing 🙂

I also combined this sketch with another challenge from Shopping our Stash – Dog Days of Summer Challenge.

And just to remind you here is sketch #581 by Heather from Sketch Saturday.

The dogs come from a stamp set from Uniquely Creative called “Dreams are for Chasing” and it is still available here. The pups in this set are adorable and so much fun to play with and the sentiment comes from there as well. The papers I used are from an old Kasiercraft paper pack called “Blae & Ivy” which has been sitting in my stash and I am trying to use it up.

Thanks for stopping in and looking at my card project. I appreciate you spending some of your surfing time in my space. Before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought for this post.

Make A Wish

09 25th Make a Wish.JPG

Hello Everyone,
Today the card that I am sharing is actually part of a 5 card set that I made. I decided to have some fun and just create some backgrounds and cards using the same set of materials. For this card I used a card sketch from Sketch Saturday #532 by Jessie – this is what it looks like

The products that I used for the card was a paper pack from my stash, the background which I created with a simple pan of watercolours, some watercolour paper cut to 10cm X 14.4cm and the My Favourite Things Sketched Blooms Stamp Set plus their Black Hybrid Ink.  To cut out the square element I used my Stitched Square Dies from Uniquely Creative.  The rest of the elements where cut using my paper trimmer. The black brads are from my stash.

I sometimes like making simple styled cards because I find I have to stop myself from adding more and more elements. I think that this sketch may become a favourite of mine.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. As always before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought

The Beauty of handmade Lies in the imperfections. Anything perfect is machine made.

In every project that I make there is a little imperfection. It is the quirk of handmade of which I love. I love seeing the artist in their work. Nothing in this world is true and perfect unless it is made by God. I am the perfect me because God made me. I am never perfect except in the eyes of God and I am very OK with that.

Bless Your Mess

09 Bless Your Nest.JPG

Hello everyone. The card that I am sharing with you was inspired by the previous sketch that I used but had to cover a mess so my copying of the sketch didn’t go as planned.

I made this card for a friend of mine who is getting to move into her own place after many years of having to share house with other people. I wanted to make her something to celebrate this milestone. The bird and wattle images are from the August Stamp and Colour Kit by Uniquely Creative. I coloured these in with my Copic markers. The birdhouse is from a magazine the sentiment also came from the magazine stamp set but I updated it to say ‘your’ to better suit a single person.

I really hope that my friend likes her card and has many new and happy memories to come in her new digs. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project and as always before you leave I want to leave you with this thought:

You don’t need to move address to achieve this but sometimes it helps. Sometimes it is cleaning out the past, arranging (better) the present and preparing for a better future. I feel like I have achieved this of late with my decluttering.

Unicorn Wishes

09 Unicorn Birthday.JPG

Hello everyone, I had so much fun creating the last card that I decided that I would make a second one using the same sketch. And I also recycled the circle I had cut for the previous card and used it to make the frame on this card!

Just to remind everyone what CAS Game #123 from AAA Cards looks like here is the details
bfd61-2523123Again you can see that I created another A6 sized card. All of the products used on this card came from the Uniquely Creative Dreamy Card Kit plus Unicorn image came from the Stay Unique add on Stamp Set. The Unicorn I coloured in with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils.

As I mentioned above the circle frame was made with the leftover circle from my previous card. To make this frame I used 2 dies – firstly I used a scalloped die and once I cut this I left the die in place and used Pinked Rashberry Distress Ink with a sponged dauber this left a nice halo which I was pleased with. I wanted to used the outer edge from the die cut but because it was so thin I was afraid that I would rip it when using my 2nd colour of ink. To prevent this I flipped the inked die cut over and replaced the outer cut back around the scalloped piece which gave it a bit of stablity then I carefully sponged Fired Brick Distress Ink.

I flipped it back over and placed the pieces together and placed some tape on the back to keep it together. To make the frame for my image I used a smaller circle die to cut out the centre. I backed this piece with some of the patterned paper from the kit then glued this whole frame down onto the pink textured card stock. Then added my Unicorn to the centre. The enamel dots are from the kit and the Happy Birthday is a sticker from my stash. And that completed the card.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my project. This post is a little longer than usual because I wanted to let you know my process for producing the frame. But as usual before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought:

Aliens Forever

08 Birthday Wish.JPG

Hello everyone, I had so much fun with sketch #285 by Chrissy from CASe this Sketch that I decided to make more cards using that sketch. Since I will be receiving my new Stamp and Colour Kit from Uniquely Creative in the not to distant future ((((happy dance))) I decided to have some fun with a past kit.  These very cute Aliens will still be used on future projects because I just cant get enough of them!

Here is a picture of the sketch that I was in

CTS_285

To make this card I used products from the Stamp and Colour Kit for April 2018 called Out of This World. These kits are packed full of wonderful products and inspiration on how to use them as well.

I used my Distress Ink and handmade cloud type stencil to make the background behind the aliens. The grass was made using a die that was part of the kit.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and looking at my project. And as always before you leave I would love to leave you with this final thought:

Believe in Yourself

Hello Everyone,

How hard is it for us to believe in ourselves?

I actually find this quite challenging especially since I was diagnosed with a long term illness over 18 years ago. The things that I once did without even thinking are numerous and  it amazing how much I now have to plan things.  And sometimes I don’t get all of my plans done … so doubts about myself have/do creep in and I find it hard to believe in my abilities.  But I know that I am on a journey with my God and He does have it all worked out even though I find it hard to continue to trust the path that has been set. Why am I so certain of this ….. because it is written many times in the Bible but this verse is my favourite

2 Samuel 22:33
God is my protection [is my strong fortress; or girds me with strength].
He makes my way free from fault [perfect; secure; a wide path].

I wanted to make this card for a friend who is going through some stuff just to let her know that she can believe in herself and things will get better.  I made this card based on these 2 challenges:

I loved the colour combo #ctd497 being used at the moment over at Color Throwdown and then I found the Sketch #276 by Chrissy over at CASe this Sketch. I knew exactly how to pull this sketch and colour combo together with my new Uniquely Creative supplies. And this is result

Believe in You Jun2018.jpg

I had so much fun using the supplies from the June Stamp & Colour plus some colour paper from my stash.  The first step was to stamp and colour the cute dogs and pillows from the Dreamy Stamp Set, I used my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils for the dogs and some Derwent Watercolor Pencils to colour the pillow stack.

Then it was onto creating the colourful spotty background. This was a time consuming process but I am so happy with how it turned out. I first cut the dots from the cream coloured card stock using my Cuttlebug and the Sprinkle Dots Background Die which comes as part of the June kit. Then I backed 4 pieces of paper from my stash trying to match the Color Throwdown combo as close as I could with Double Sided Sticky paper and ran these through my Cuttlebug.  Then I had to find where the pieces matched up with the original cream piece but placing them was so much easier thanks to the double sided paper.

Then I assembled the card after cutting out the dogs and pillows by hand. My ScanNCut may have to make a reappearance because it is getting much hard for me to do fine scissor work as my hands get worse with pain. After attaching the images I used my stamp press to make the sentiment out of 2 separate sentiments so that it would say what I wanted. I love using my stamp press for doing this kind of thing and especially if I don’t get a good impression the first time I can repeat the stamping.

And that was the end of the outside of my card. I am happy that you stopped by to look at my project today, but before you go I would like to leave you with this last thought:
Every time you find some humor in a difficult situation, you win.
This says it all really. If you can find the good in the horrible then it doesn’t seem so bad. I know this to be true – sometimes I forget to do this!

Monster Sized Birthday

Hello Everyone,
Today I am writing this blog for 2 reasons.  I want to introduce you to a stamp company that is new to me and maybe even to you as well.Image result for uniquely creative I recently found Uniquely Creative advertisement in a card making magazine that I had purchased and this weekend I met the people behind this company at the Scrapbook & Papercraft Expo.  I feel in love with their adorable stamps so much that I also signed up to be a part of their Stamp & Colour Bi-Monthly Card Kit. On my card project I used the images, paper and card base from the April 2018 Stamp & Colour Kit which I purchased while at the Expo.

And now my card project.  This card is inspired by the card sketch #275 (Retro#3) from Case this Sketch
and this is my take on it –
Monster Wishes Jun2018
Aren’t they adorable!! I absolutely love the laughing monster and with this card I also decorated the inside Monster Wishes insidewith the rest of the characters from the set.  I coloured all of these images with my Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils.

All of these images are bringing back the enjoyment that I have for colouring and card making.  I am hoping that by joining the Stamp & Colour Kit club that it will encourage me to use my colouring more.

I want to thank you for stopping by and looking at my card creation.  Maybe I have introduced you to a new Stamp Company or at least to some cute little Monsters/Aliens.  And as always before you leave I wish to leave you with this thought:

Whoever said handmade is cheap. ..
Oh how so so true – I can attest to this one!  But I am finding some people who appreciate the cost and time that goes into the creating of any craft piece.  The supplies are not cheap but they are so so much cheaper than paying for a therapist!!
Crafting is my Therapy!!
